It seems that those complaining about Trump not pursuing charges against Secretary Clinton aren’t aware that Trump might open a can of worms that could be devastating for him. After all, he doesn’t want anyone probing his actual “win”, like his connection to Russia and their alleged help in winning the election for him. (ks)
When President-elect Donald Trump’s senior adviser Kellyanne Conway said Monday that Trump “doesn’t wish to pursue” charges against Hillary Clinton for using a private email server as Secretary of State, conservative news outlets and personalities broadcast their own sense of whiplash.
With the dogged, quarter century pursuit of criminal charges against Clinton perhaps finally at its end, some conservatives outlets demanded justice one last time:
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton, whose organization’s FOIA requests were a near constant thorn in the Clinton campaign campaign’s side, released a scathing statement Tuesday calling for Trump to “commit his administration to a serious, independent investigation of the very serious Clinton national security, email, and pay-to-play scandals.”
“If Mr. Trump’s appointees continue the Obama administration’s politicized spiking of a criminal investigation of Hillary Clinton, it would be a betrayal of his promise to the American people to “drain the swamp” of out-of-control corruption in Washington, DC,” the statement continued.
Conservative commentator Ann Coulter seemed to defend Trump at first, before urging him to avoid “blocking investigators from doing their jobs.”
