Secret Service Looking Into Radio Host’s Graphic Violent Comments About Obama, Hillary Clinton

Meryl Streep, Hillary Rodham Clinton

This is long overdue…

TPMDC

The Secret Service is following up on recent comments by right wing radio host Pete Santilli, who claimed to want to shoot former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the vagina and see President Obama tried and shot for treason.

“We are aware of Mr. Santilli’s comments and will take the appropriate follow up action,” Edwin M. Donovan, a Secret Service spokesperson, told TPM on Monday. “He certainly has a right to free speech, but the Secret Service has a right and an obligation to determine what a person’s intent is when making comments like this.”

He made the threatening comments the week before last on his eponymous Internet based radio program. Santilli is a fringe figure who has made threatening comments on his program in the past. But he’s gained some quasi-mainstream attention recently with guests like Ted Nugent and Gun Owners of America director Larry Pratt.

‘Miss Hillary Clinton needs to be convicted, she needs to be tried, convicted and shot in the vagina,” he said. “I wanna pull the trigger. That ‘C U Next Tuesday’ has killed human beings that are in our ranks of our service. I want to remind you that in Benghazi, Miss Hillary ‘the fricken’ biggest vagina on the face of the planet’ told troops to stand down and to not go in and interfere with the operation that they set up because they’re moving arms; Barack Obama is moving drugs through the CIA out of Afghanistan and Barack Obama needs to be tried, convicted, and shot for crimes against the United States of America.”

Chris Christie Slams NRA Ad For Targeting President’s Children

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie gets it right, once again…

Voice 4 America

Speaking out against an advertisement recently released by the National Rifle Association, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie slams the NRA, criticizing their use of the President’s children as an example to cite the hypocrisy in gun control elitism due to the First Family’s protection from the Secret Service.  ”I’m a father who is a public figure, who has four children and my children had no choice realistically in what I decided to do with my career and what affect that has had on their lives.”   The criticisms come as the gun control debate intensifies, drawing ire from both sides as the issues that cause gun violence are brought up to debate.

Secret Service Visits Man Who Hung Obama Effigy From Tree As ‘Spooky’ Halloween Decoration

eddie million obama in effigy

Right wing politicians want to take us back decades in terms of individual rights.   They and their constituents want to take us back decades before civil rights legislation, including voting rights.  One of their “dog whistles” to their constituents is “we’re gonna take our country back!”

What this should tell every progressive and forward leaning citizen is that the GOP has put us in a dangerous place.   Not only that, their low-information, nay, crazy supporters are perfect subjects to cling to the GOP perception of dominance.

Just recently a raucous women who was about to be arrested told police “it’s ok, I’m a Republican…”  They honestly think that the GOP has given them their “privileged” status back and placed minorities “where they belong”.

The following article depicts a man hanging the President of The United States in effigy.  However, it’s not the first time during this election season that this has happened.

The Huffington Post

A California man’s Halloween yard decoration earned him a meeting with the Secret Service earlier this week.

In an interview with the Press-Enterprise, Eddie Million of Moreno Valley admitted that his addition of an effigy of President Barack Obama with a noose around its neck was a low point in his attempt to turn his house into a “spooky” scene for a Halloween party.

“I started thinking how bad it looked, and I took it down immediately,” Million told reporters after being questioned by Secret Service agents on Tuesday. “If I had it to do all over again, I absolutely wouldn’t have done it. It was not meant to offend anybody. It was just supposed to be a decoration.”

The episode was initially touched off by complaints from neighbors, which eventually led to local media reports and a visit from police at the beginning of the week. Million said the Secret Service interviewed him and asked for his information, but took no further action.

Inflammatory displays — whatever their actual intents or purposes — have grown increasingly controversial as the nation approaches Election Day. A speech at the Republican National Convention by actor Clint Eastwood to an empty seat that was supposed to represent Obama set off a wave of empty chair “lynching” displays.

Others have been more direct and vitriolic. A yard sign in Aspen, Colo. that read “Kill Obama” recently drew the attention of the Secret Service, who paid the property owner a visit.

Michelle Obama Threat: D.C. Police Officer Allegedly Said He’d Shoot First Lady, Report Says

This is rather creepy.

Thank goodness the DC Police and  Secret Service are on top of this threat…

The Huffington Post

WASHINGTON — A District of Columbia police officer has been taken off a motorcycle escort for White House officials after he allegedly said he’d shoot first lady Michelle Obama and “then used his phone to retrieve a picture of the firearm he said he would use,” according to The Washington Post.

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating and the Secret Service has been told of the alleged threat, the Post reports:

The motorman allegedly made the comments Wednesday morning as several officers from the Special Operations Division discussed threats against President Obama. It was not immediately clear where the alleged conversation took place or exactly how many officers took part in the conversation.During that conversation, the officials said, the officer allegedly said he would shoot the First Lady and then used his phone to retrieve a picture of the firearm he said he would use. It was not immediately clear what type of firearm was allegedly shown.

An officer overheard the alleged threat and reported it to a police lieutenant at the Division, who immediately notified superiors, the officials said.

The officer has been moved to administrative duty as the incident is being investigated, according to the Post.

MPD Chief Cathy Lanier told WRC-TV/NBC4: “There is conflicting information about what the officer said. … Internal Affairs will get to the bottom of it.”

This is a developing story…

Ted Nugent: ‘I’m A Non-Violent Guy, I Don’t Threaten’ [UPDATED]

Well, Mr. Nugent, you could have fooled me given the fact that you have a rather uncanny passion for guns…

The Huffington Post

Rocker Ted Nugent said Wednesday that he had never and would never threaten anyone’s life.

“That’s ridiculous,” Nugent told radio talk show host and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R). “I mean, I’m a non-violent guy, I don’t threaten. I wouldn’t waste my time threatening, I’ve never threatened anyone’s life in my life. I will not threaten anyone’s life. I certainly wouldn’t threaten the life of the president, or anybody in public office, or anybody anywhere.”

(Listen to the interview above)

Nugent confirmed that he was contacted by the Secret Service, who are investigating his comments during the NRA convention that he would be “dead or in jail by this time next year” if President Barack Obama is re-elected. Nugent, who has a history of inflammatory comments, said the Secret Service was just doing their job in investigating what he called the “preposterous, outrageous, deceitful dishonest claim that I threatened anyone’s life.”

“I respect their duty to do so,” he said. “The rules of engagement for the Secret Service is to respond even when someone as maniacal as a Wasserman Schultz or Pelosi or Boxer or Feinstein” complains.

“They want to shut me up, and it ain’t going to happen,” Nugent said.

UPDATE – 1:25 p.m.:

The Secret Service has also confirmed they will interview Nugent, according to NBC News. Nugent said he will meet with them Thursday, but the Secret Service could not confirm a date.

THE SECRET SERVICE SAYS THEY ARE INVESTIGATING TED NUGENT’S THREATENING REMARKS TOWARD OBAMA

Lawrence O’Donnell (MSNBC’s The Last Word host) and his guests pointed out tonight that the GOP were “outraged” over Hillary Rosen’s comments about Ann Romney, but have remained silent over Ted Nugent’s outrageous innuendos about assassinating the President of the United States!  In my opinion this is just another example of the GOP’s faux outrage, which they conveniently use to gin up their “not very bright” base.

Think Progress

Ted Nugent’s threatening remarks about President Obama at the annual National Rifle Association convention in St. Louis have earned him a follow-up conversation with the Secret Service.

On Sunday, the singer remarked that “if Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will be either be dead or in jail by this time next year.” The Secret Service, which investigates all threats against the President, confirmed to New York Magazine’s Daily Intel blog that they have in fact flagged Nugent’s comment. “We are aware of it, and we’ll conduct an appropriate follow up,” the agent told the magazine.

Nugent endorsed Mitt Romney — albeit reluctantly — via Twitter last month, and at least one Romney, middle son Tagg, was excited about the news. Watch the video of his remarks, courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

Secret Service agents with Obama at summit relieved of duty

Secret Service, United States images

When you put this news into context, those secret service agents were jeopardizing the security of the POTUS.

That’s a serious offense…

Politico

A dozen Secret Service agents with President Barack Obama at an international summit have been relieved of duty because of allegations of misconduct.

The Associated Press received an anonymous tip that the misconduct involved prostitutes in Cartagena, Colombia, the site of the Summit of the Americas. A Secret Service spokesman would neither confirm nor deny the allegation.

A U.S. official, who was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter and requested anonymity, put the number of agents at 12. The agency was not releasing the number of personnel involved.

The incident threatened to overshadow Obama’s economic and trade agenda at the summit and embarrass the U.S. The White House had no comment.

Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan would not confirm that prostitution was involved, saying only that there had been “allegations of misconduct” made against Secret Service personnel in the Colombian port city hosting Obama and more than 30 world leaders.

Donovan said the allegations of misconduct were related to activity before the president’s arrival Friday night.

Obama was attending a leaders’ dinner Friday night at Cartagena’s historic Spanish fortress. He was due to attend summit meetings with regional leaders Saturday and Sunday.

Those involved had been sent back to their permanent place of duty and were being replaced by other agency personnel, Donovan said. The matter was turned over to the agency’s Office of Professional Responsibility, which handles the agency’s internal affairs.

“These personnel changes will not affect the comprehensive security plan that has been prepared in advance of the president’s trip,” Donovan said.

Romney is not concerned about the very poor…

Did Mitt Romney really mean he's "not concerned" about poor people?

Will someone tell this dense, Richie Rich clown that 50% of Americans are either at or below poverty levels.

Slate

Romney’s newest gaffe isn’t just another blunder. It’s the beginning of a race over who is most out of touch.

Mitt Romney is now being protected by the Secret Service. Unfortunately for him, they were not in a position to jump in front of his comments Wednesday morning. The day after his Florida triumph, Romney told CNN: “I’m not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there. If it needs repair, I’ll fix it. I’m not concerned about the very rich, they’re doing just fine. I’m concerned about the very heart of America, the 90 percent, 95 percent of Americans who right now are struggling.”

This statement is striking for many reasons. Most are obvious—it is thoroughly ham-fisted for a politician to ever say he doesn’t care about part of the electorate, particularly the “very poor.” Everyone knows that much. But Romney’s gaffe signals something more about the general election to come. As it looks more likely that Obama and Romney will square off, we are faced with a new prospect: The 2012 presidential election may devolve into a battle between two aloof men trading charges about who is more out of touch.
