Next thing you know, he might be accused of being downright patriotic.

Obama’s Level-Headed Response To Pro-Life Radicals

Is there any doubt who, among the 2012 Presidential candidates, has a clear command of reason and analysis when it comes to governing?

Kids Stand Up To FoxNews Bullies

 I love these kids!

Daily Kos

Got courage?  Willing to fight for what is right?

The kids in the Contract for the American Dream video aren’t afraid to stand up for what they believe and to endure personal attacks by a major media network.  Perhaps we could follow their courageous example rather than losing ourselves in meta wars here.

Last week I did a diary about FoxNews attacks on the children who appeared in a video supporting the Contract for the American Dream.  Here’s a link to the diary: Fox News calls children in MoveOn.org video “bastards” and “dorks”

The video featuring the children is part of an effort by MoveOn.org and Rebuild the Dream to put forth a progressive economic vision created by over 130,000 Americans online and in their communities. The parents and the children who participated in the video were asked to read through the Contract to ensure they were fully on board with the project and its goals.

Here’s the original video:

FoxNews attacked the children, calling them dorks and bastards.

Here’s a partial transcript:

KT McFARLAND (Fox News contributor): I think that just — the more we see of this, the better. These kids are a bunch of dorks. I grew up — I grew up in the era when the libs were supposed to be the cool guys. They were having, you know, the pool parties where everyone was getting thrown in. I was a Republican — I was, like, you know, like, the little White House thing, and everybody [inaudible] had their Peter Pan collars. These guys are a bunch of dorks. I mean, that looks like it’s something that the good old Republicans had put out for the state fair.GUTFELD: That’s an interesting point. So you’re saying it’s almost reversed it now, where the left has become the right in terms of earnestness and humorlessness, that now it is almost rebellious to be on the other side. I didn’t think of it that way, KT, but that’s why you are here. And Joe, that’s why you’re not here. What do you make of this, Joe? I saw you – I saw you tearing up. I thought you might have liked it.

JOE DeVITO (comedian): I did, because those little bastards are making me so angry that — this video reminded me of — the other night you were talking about the interview with Gwyneth Paltrow.

MoveOn.org and Rebuild the Dream called on Fox to issue an apology to the children and their families, an apology that was not forthcoming:

“Fox News is hardly a beacon of responsible journalism. But even by their low standards, calling innocent children “dorks” and “bastards,” as they did yesterday, is disgusting. With society focusing more and more on the terrible consequences of bullying, a gang of adults making derogatory comments about a bunch of kids and then laughing about it sends exactly the wrong message to our youth.

So now the kids are fighting back against the FoxNews bullies.

One of the kids who was attacked by Fox News for appearing in the Contract for the American Dream video just put up a video response to Fox News.

Last week some people on FOX News attacked a video that I appeared in for MoveOn.org and Rebuild the Dream. They even called me and the other kids in the video names. Well, here’s what I have to say.

MoveOn Uses Fox News Hoaxes, Van Jones And The Roots In Anti-Austerity Campaign

I like seeing Fox News getting punked…

The Huffington Post

It seemed, at the time, too surreal to be true. In late May, a YouTube user named Hiropro999 posted a video to the site showing the ticker outside of News Corp.’s Manhattan headquarters being hacked and reprogrammed with an anti-FOX News script. The mysterious nature of the poster combined with the high profile of the target produced a tremendous amount of curiosity and netted 300,000-plus views.

FOX News said the video was a fake. It was.

On Wednesday morning, MoveOn.org, the five million-member progressive advocacy organization, finally acknowledged that it had commandeered the elaborate prank in an effort to draw attention to a much larger campaign. On June 23rd, the organization, alongside former White House adviser Van Jones and The Roots, are launching what organizers are calling “Rebuild the Dream,” an effort to move the political conversation away from austerity and towards job creation.

“This will be the largest economic campaign we have ever run,” Justin Ruben, MoveOn’s Executive Director said in an interview with The Huffington Post. “The goal here is to really change the debate and refocus it on the stuff that is necessary to create jobs and make the economy work for regular people … It is unreal that with widespread misery across the country, Washington is focused on closing the deficit and giving tax breaks to millionaires.”

Rand Paul-Supporting Head-Stomper Charged With Assault

This post has been revised.  Initially, I wrote something about Rand Paul supporting the “head-stomper”.  That was an error.

My over-zealous reaction to the above headline was an error.

New York Magazine

Tim Profitt, the Kentucky man and since-dropped Rand Paul campaign coordinator videotaped stomping on a Paul protester’s head last week, has been charged with misdemeanor assault. Profitt will go before a district judge in Lexington Nov. 18 on the fourth-degree assault charge. [NBC]

Kentucky Stomper Identified As Paul’s (Now Former) Bourbon County Coordinator

This guy only got a summons to appear in court!  I think he should have been arrested for assault.   I find the actions of the Kentucky police to be quite troubling…

TPMDC

The Rand Paul campaign has just severed ties with their Bourbon County coordinator – a man by the name of Tim Profitt — who has identified himself as the supporter who stomped on the head and neck of a MoveOn activist outside of the Senate debate in Lexington, KY last night, according to Fox News.

Profitt apologized for the scuffle to the Associated Press this afternoon, and apparently told them that the camera angle made the incident appear worse than it really was.

The Kentucky blog “barefoot and progressive” was the first to identify Profitt as the likely assailant in a series of posts today.

TPM left a message for Profitt at his residence this afternoon, but the call was not returned before publication time.

Late update: Valle spoke to reporters this afternoon, telling them that the men who attacked her were familiar with her from other protests.

Later update: More from Profitt’s statement to the AP: “”I’m sorry that it came to that, and I apologize if it appeared overly forceful, but I was concerned about Rand’s safety.”

MoveOn Supporter Brutally Attacked by Rand Paul Supporter

TMPDC

Josh Green flagged an incident that occurred outside of the Rand Paul-Jack Conway debate in Lexington, Kentucky Monday night that’s already dominating the news in Kentucky and could easily make headlines nationally.

As the candidates arrived, a group of Paul supporters pulled a female MoveOn member to the ground and held her there as another Paul supporter stomped on the back of her head and neck.

According to the Louisville Courier Journal, “Lauren Valle of MoveOn.org approached Paul and tried to give him an “employee of the month award” from Republicorp…a fake business MoveOn created to symbolize what it says is the merger of the GOP and business interests controlling political speech.”

The whole thing was caught on video. Watch.
