Bill Maher, ‘The Obama administration isn’t dirty. The air is dirty.’ (Warning: Language is “dicy”…Hey, it’s Bill Maher!!!)

Truly one of Bill Maher’s best “New Rules” segments…

PoliticusUSA

Bill Maher summed up the difference between the bogus Obama scandals that are being pushed and the real scandal of conservative climate change denial, ‘The Obama administration isn’t dirty. The air is dirty.’

Here’s the video:

Maher said,

Please don’t tell me that freedom died because Susan Rice broke the sacred bond between citizens and talk shows. In a poll this week, four in ten Republicans said Benghazi is the worst scandal in history. Second worst, Kanye West snatching the mic from Taylor Swift.

If you think Benghazi is worse than slavery, the Trail of Tears, Japanese internment, Tuskegee, purposefully injecting Guatemalan mental patients with syphilis, WMDs, and the fact that banks today are still foreclosing on mortgages that they don’t own, then your hard on for Obama has lasted for more four hours, and you need to call a doctor.

And while the press has been occupied with scandal, the biggest scandal, and the most important story of the century so far happened last week. Scientists reported that the level of carbon dixoide in the atmosphere has passed the long feared milestone of 400 parts per million, and unless you’re a chimney sweep, that’s bad news. Because humans have never lived through it.

You think Susan Rice gave bogus talking points about Benghazi? What about the bulls**t talking points the entire Republican Party has been spewing on climate change since the 90s? I wanna see the emails to find who came up with the talking points that global warming is just a theory, and that it needs more study, and that climate change is hoax.

The Obama administration isn’t dirty. The air is.

The fact that Republicans are more interested in chasing imaginary Obama scandals than doing something about climate change isn’t a coincidence. The right’s talking points on climate change came directly from the fossil fuels industry. In 1991, The New York Times reported, “Coal-burning utility companies and coal producers, disturbed by public acceptance of the idea that burning fossil fuels will change the climate, are deciding whether to go national this fall with an ad campaign they tried in three markets earlier this year…The goal of the campaign, according to one planning document, is to “reposition global warming as theory” and not fact.”

The debate over climate change isn’t really about science. For Republicans, and the special interests who fund them, the climate change issue is all about money, and maintaining our dependence on fossil fuels. From 2002-2010, conservative billionaires spent $120 million to fund a network of more than 100 climate change denial organizations. The purpose of the effort is to deny the human role in climate change, and to oppose environmental regulations.

The air is dirty because Republicans are taking dirty (dark) money. Until people connect the dots, and demand that special interest money be removed from our politics, our planet will continue to die. The Obama scandals are a smokescreen to cover up the fact that Republicans would rather destroy the planet to enrich the few.

The air is definitely dirty, and Republican greed is the reason why.

Bill Maher Slams Paul Ryan, Rand Paul For ‘Ruining’ Libertarianism: ‘I Didn’t Go Nuts, This Movement Did’ (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post

On this week’s episode of “Real Time,” Bill Maher used his final “New Rule” of the night to take on Libertarianism and the conservatives whose obsessions with Ayn Rand have “ruined” the political philosophy for him.

Once a supporter of Libertarianism and its views on government intervention, Maher explained why he thinks politicians such as Paul Ryan and Rand Paul are “intellectually stuck in their teen years” and have turned a once promising movement into a free market-obsessed, “nanny state”-fearing delusion.

Maher went on to defend his new views on Libertarianism by mocking the party’s tendency to reject government services even when they are arguably very useful:

“To everyone who keeps trying to shame me about abandoning my Libertarian moorings, my message is this: I didn’t go nuts, this movement did. Like when you see a stop light, your reaction should be ‘Great, an easy way to ensure we don’t all crash into each other,’ not, ‘How dare the government tell me when I can and cannot go!”

Donald Trump Withdraws Lawsuit Against Bill Maher

Score another win for the good guys…

TPM LiveWire

Donald Trump has withdrawn his sensational lawsuit against Bill Maher — at least for the moment.

Trump filed a lawsuit against Maher in February, arguing that the political satirist did not fulfill his end of a very public bet. While appearing on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” in January, Maher joked that he would donate $5 million to a charity of Trump’s choice — “Hair Club for Men” and “the Institute for Incorrigible Douchebaggery” were among Maher’s suggestions — if the real estate mogul and prominent birther could prove that he’s not the “spawn of his mother having sex with an orangutan.”

Trump’s lawyers evidently filed a request with the L.A. County Superior Court on March 29 to dismiss the $5 million lawsuit. But Michael Cohen, special counsel and executive vice president for Trump, told TMZ that the legal fight is not over and the withdrawal of the case was only temporary.

“The lawsuit was temporarily withdrawn to be amended and refiled at a later date,” Cohen said.

Maher, for his part, never seemed to take the case too seriously. During an interview with late night host Conan O’Brien in February, Maher compared his dispute with Trump to “having a spat with J.R. Ewing.”

“He’s not even a real person,” Maher said of Trump. “It’s just like a pop reference from the 80′s.”

Catholic League Wants Time Warner To Have ‘A Serious Talk’ With Bill Maher

‘Nuff said…

TPM LiveWire

The Catholic League has had enough of Bill Maher’s shtick.

Maher on Friday closed his weekly HBO program, “Real Time,” with a monologue that was sharply critical of the Catholic Church and the newly elected Pope Francis. It was a pretty typical rant from the anti-religion satirist but William Donohue, president of the Catholic League, believes Maher went too far.

In a letter sent Tuesday to Glenn A. Britt, chairman of HBO’s parent company Time Warner, Donohue said that “Maher’s bigotry” must not go unpunished. Donohue attached a report titled “Bill Maher’s History of Anti-Catholicism, 1998-2013,” which documents 39 jokes made by the comedian that were directed at the Church.

“From the enclosed report, it is evident that Maher’s bigotry is not merely visceral, it is relentless,” Donohue wrote. “The time has come for someone in a position of responsibility to sit down and have a serious talk with this man.”

A self-described agnostic, Maher has long lampooned all religions, as evidenced by his 2008 documentary, “Religulous.”

Read Donohue’s letter here. Watch Maher’s editorial on Catholics and Pope Francis from last Friday, which begins around the :25 mark:

Ed: Warning Bill Maher’s remarks are EXPLICIT.  That’s Bill Maher’s “schtick”…

Bill Maher & Alexandra Pelosi: Republicans Want Spending Cuts But Can’t Name One. (VIDEO)

aarom1

Check out some of Alexandra Pelosi’s similar videos here, here and here

Liberals Unite

What we need here is the government’s help.” New Jersey Republican.

In her latest short on Real Time with Bill Maher, Alexandra Pelosi illustrates that Republicans are simply not informed. She asks them what spending cuts the government should be making after they insist cuts should be made.

Pelosi asks them about specific cuts, such as education, Medicare, Sandy relief, healthcare, veteran benefits, unemployment benefits and the list goes on. The answer to each suggested cut is “no.”

Can you guess what they want to cut? The answer they give is not surprising. They cling to an ideology. They do so against their own best interest—against your best interest.

Wake up Republicans!!! If you think for five minutes about what you want and what you think you want, you will not be so quick to scream and assume Democrats just want handouts. We don’t have to be so divided. We actually want the same things in life. When will you understand this? When it’s too late?

My question to Republicans is, why do you want to insist on something you can’t even answer yourself?

I fear Maher is accurate when he says “the people are morons, they don’t know what to tell the politicians…, they don’t know anything.”

Ted Nugent Killed 455 Pigs With A Machine Gun From A Helicopter… For Bill Maher

Ted Nugent and Bill Maher

I don’t like anything about this Cretan…

Mediaite

Rocker and avid gun rights enthusiast Ted Nugenthas revealed an unusual hobby. And it’s all for the benefit of “Bill Maher and all those other animal rights freaks out there.”

Nugent reportedly told the full story to SiriusXM’s Brett Winterble.

“I took my machine gun in the helicopter — in the Texas hill country – me and my buddy ‘Pigman’ … his name is ‘Pigman’ – I’m the swine czar. I killed 455 hogs with my machine gun. I did it for Bill Maher and all those other animal rights freaks out there.”

A look back at Nugent’s Twitter account shows that this wasn’t the first time he had partaken in this pastime. He posted this provocative message back in January:

During the radio interview, Nugent went on to explain that his actions were meant to help “save the environment from the destruction of these out-of-control pigs and I’m not talking about Washington D.C. or San Francisco … I’m actually talking about actual pigs.”

And he didn’t just let the 455 hogs go to waste. “We distributed tons of the most delicious pork to the soup kitchens and homeless shelters of this state,” Nugent said “Everything we did was perfect – win win win.”

If the first “win” was saving the environment and the second “win” was feeding the homeless, we can only assume that the third “win” was the pure enjoyment Nugent got from shooting his machine gun. If you throw in pissing off Bill Maher, you might as well throw in one more “win,” making Nugent’s actions “win win win win.”

Maher has yet to respond to Nugent’s boasts, via Twitter or any other means of communication. But no one should be surprised if this story ends up as one of his “New Rules” on Friday.

BIll Maher Obliterates the Republican Lie that Obama Hasn’t Created Any Jobs

PoliticusUSA

When Republican consultant David Avella tried to push the lie that Obama has not created any jobs, he was completely destroyed by Bill Maher and Howard Dean.

Here is the video:

David Avella of GOPAC tried to spread the Republican myth that Obama has not created any jobs, but Bill Maher called him out on it.

Maher said, “That’s not true. That’s just a lie. What are you talking about he hasn’t created any jobs?” Avella said that there are no net new jobs since he started his administration. Maher responded because he started from the hole, but Avella interrupted him and expressed the Republican point of view that it doesn’t matter how many jobs were lost before Obama took office. Maher said the Republican no net new jobs meme is categorically untrue.

Panelist Howard Dean jumped into the conversation and said, “This is like listening to Paul Ryan on the budget. It’s ridiculous. They were going like that. Finally, they leveled off. After what Bush did which was borrow us into oblivion. From the bottom of the recession, there’s about five or six million new jobs created under Barack Obama. Is it enough? No, we need to do more stuff. I think we ought to put the old campaign behind us and talk about the new one.” Maher built on Dean’s point, “Also this week, if Mitt Romney had been taking the oath this week, he would be taking credit now for the news we got this week. Housing starts are up. Stock market is way up. Unemployment claims are way down. He’s the worst socialist ever, this Obama.”

This idea that Obama hasn’t created any jobs is a favorite Republican lie. At the 2012 Democratic convention, former President Clinton took apart this falsehood, “The Recovery Act saved and created millions of jobs and cut taxes for 95% of the American people. In the last 29 months the economy has produced about 4.5 million private sector jobs. But last year, the Republicans blocked the President’s jobs plan costing the economy more than a million new jobs. So here’s another jobs score: President Obama plus 4.5 million, Congressional Republicans zero.”

As of last fall, even if you count all of the job losses that continue to pile up before the president could implement his own policies, Obama still had a net job creation record of +325,000. Republicans try to claim that Obama has not created any jobs by including 2009 and saddling Obama with Bush job losses from the first day that he took office. The stimulus wasn’t passed and signed into law until February 2009, but it just so happens that the job losses in January 2009 were the worst in 34 years. Before Obama has even had two full weeks in office, the economy lost 540,000 jobs. Those job losses belong to George W. Bush, but Republicans put them on Obama in order to make their dubious jobs math work.

A more accurate assessment of Obama’s jobs record should begin 2010, when his policies were implemented. By that standard Obama has created over 5 million jobs. The truth is that no matter how you slice the numbers, Republicans are still clinging to a flat out lie that Obama hasn’t created any jobs.

Voters didn’t buy the Republican funny math during the 2012 election. They aren’t going to buy it in 2014 or 2016 either. Bill Maher and Howard Dean were right on the money to call this out.

Republicans still haven’t figured out that they are only fooling themselves with their bogus statistics. You can fool some of the people all of the time, especially if those people watch Fox News and vote Republican.

New Rules for the New Year

HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher is on hiatus right now, so running across this New York Times op-ed by Maher was like finding an oasis in a desert.   I admit that not all of the following “new rules” are politically correct, but neither is Bill Maher…

The New York Times

2012: I call it the year in “meh.” Not the worst we’ve ever experienced, but nothing particularly great to say about it either. Like being a socialite, but in Tampa.

I am looking forward to 2013, however, because I love the odd-numbered years — they’re the ones without congressional elections, Olympics, World Cups or weird extra days tacked onto the calendar by so-called scientists. Odd-numbered years are chill. They’re the 3 p.m. of years — that small sliver of time when lunch is digested and it’s too early to think about dinner and you stand at least a fighting chance of getting something done.

In that spirit, here are the New Rules for the new year:

NEW RULE Now that their end-of-the-world prophecy has proved to be complete baloney, the Mayans must be given a job predicting election results for Fox News.

NEW RULE Sometime during the 2013 awards show season, “Gangnam Style” must be given an award for the shortest amount of time between my finding out what something is to my being completely sick of it. Besting the time of 7 hours, 12 minutes, set by “The Macarena” in 1996.

NEW RULE Congress must make it a tradition to drive off the fiscal cliff every year. And I mean really off the cliff, like Toonces the cat drove that car. This way Republicans can learn that lower military spending won’t lead to China invading. And Democrats can learn that no one cares what the Commerce Department does anyway.

NEW RULE No more mixing politics with pizza. The filthy rich founder of Papa John’s, John Schnatter, said he’d cut his employees’ hours to avoid the costs of Obamacare. This is where I’d normally suggest boycotting Papa John’s, but that’s like telling people to boycott sadness. Nobody eats Papa John’s because they like it. They eat it because Domino’s won’t deliver to crack houses.

NEW RULE The winners of next month’s Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show must later compete against the winners of “Toddlers & Tiaras” — so we can get their handlers in one place, lock the doors and let the kids and dogs run for their lives.

NEW RULE The New Year’s Eve ball drop must be moved to one of the two states that recently legalized pot, so we can hear the crowd sing in unison, “Should old acquaintance be… what are the words again?”

NEW RULE Second-term Obama must have a few laughs by acting out the Tea Party’s worst fears. He must order Air Force One to fly everywhere upside-down like Denzel and replace Bo the White House dog with two pit bulls named “Malcolm” and “X.”

NEW RULE Drugstores, supermarkets, department stores and all other retail establishments must stop asking me to join their “club.” A club is a place to have a few drinks. What you’re offering me is two dollars off a bottle of NyQuil. And that’s nothing like being in a club. Unless I drink the whole bottle at once.

NEW RULE You can’t run for president if you don’t know how old the world is. Quizzed recently, Marco Rubio answered, “I’m not a scientist, man.” As if you have to be Galileo to Google, “How old is the earth?” And when asked his thoughts on evolution, Chris Christie said, “None of your business!” Which is what you say when someone asks you if you made a baby with the maid. Fellas, if you and your party want to be taken seriously, you don’t have to recite the collected works of Stephen Hawking — just stop regurgitating the Facebook page of Sarah Palin.

NEW RULE If we must sit through a 30-second ad to see your Web site, you have to take down all of those banner ads, which no one has clicked on since 1997. Please — I’m trying to watch a video of a nipple slip from last night’s episode of “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” Let’s not cheapen it.

Bill Maher is the host of “Real Time With Bill Maher” on HBO.
