Anonymous Turns Kim Jong-Un Into A Pig; North Korea Is Not Impressed (VIDEO)

Anonymous is beginning to get my attention.

Actually they first got my attention when they claimed to have hacked Karl Rove’s “Get Out The Vote” operation.  Those guys are fearless…

Addicting Info

Just as we thought U.S. relations with North Korea couldn’t get any worse, Anonymous comes along and hacks Kim Jong-un’s Twitter and Flickr Accounts. As Alexander Abad Santos succinctly puts it in the headline for his article on AtlanticWire, “Anonymous Can’t Stop North Korea, but They Can Turn Kim Jong-un into a Pig.” And so they did, by hacking into North Korea’s propaganda Web site, http://www.uriminzokkiri.com, and its related social media outlets. (NOTE: At the time of this writing, the http://www.uriminzokkiri.com  site was unavailable)

One can only imagine how The Onion’s “Sexiest Man of the Year” reacted when he logged onto Twitter and saw THIS:

Or, when he logged onto his Flickr account and saw THIS!:

Image hacked on North Korea propaganda outlet’s Flickr account.

In keeping with tradition, the folks from the AnonKorea cell of Anonymous also uploaded a video press release (shown below) to YouTube announcing their exploits. First, they issue a greeting, and make it clear that they loathe the U.S. government as much as they loathe the North Korean government :

Hello, citizens of the world. We are Anonymous North Korean government is increasingly becoming a threat to peace and freedom. Don’t misunderstand us: As well we disagree with the USA government too – these guys are crooks, USA is a threat to world peace too, and direct democracy (or any kind of democracy) doesn’t exist there. The American government is a target and enemy of Anonymous as well! (transcription sic)

Then, AnonKorea and friends make the following demands:

  • N.K. government to stop making nukes and nuke-threats
  • Kim Jong-un to resign
  • It’s time to install a free direct democracy in North Korea
  • Uncensored internet access for all the citizens!

Ummmm …. like that’ll ever happen. I hate sounding so skeptical, because I’m an admirer of the folks from Anonymous. Although their hacking is against the law, a warm flame of hope burns within my cold, shriveled heart every time I hear about them hacking some other evil organization. After all, this is one of the few effective tools for civil disobedience, the few tools ordinary citizens (or at least ordinary computer whiz kids) have left — in the United States, as well as in North Korea.

Yet, I can’t help but wonder what AnonKorea hopes to accomplish with this latest stunt. Get the entire staff of Uriminzokkiri.Com tortured and killed for letting this happen? Does the pint-sized potentate of Pyongyang really care that some of his people may have caught a fleeting glimpse of him as a pig, with Mickey Mouse’s face emblazoned on his paunchy stomach? Adam Taylor fromBusiness Insider shares my skepticism.

Taylor first mentions that these hacks haven’t really accomplished very much towards freeing North Korea:

These attacks do make Kim Jong-un’s regime look silly to the outside world, but  given that he looks pretty ridiculous already, that’s an extremely minor victory. Internally, most North Koreans will never know about these attacks as they cannot access the Internet.

He also writes that the demands are unrealistic and “ridiculous” and that the workers and “lower-ranking officials” who were unfortunate enough to have these “cyber attacks” occur on their watch are probably in deep trouble now:

While the attacks don’t appear to be devastating to North Korea, they are  embarrassing. The North Korean elite will want answers, and will probably want  people punished.

U.S. relations with North Korea seem caught in a downward death spiral as Kim Jong-un grows increasingly bellicose. In early February, North Korea conducted illegal nuclear tests and released a bizarre propaganda video with a sleeping man dreaming of a nuclear attack on the United States, accompanied by the bizarrely inappropriate 1980′s peace ballad, “We Are The World.” Then, not to be outdone, last week the U.S. flew some F-22 stealth bombers from a base in Missouri to Osan, South Korea to participate in military drills with our neighbors. After much urging from the U.S., China gave naughty North Korea a little spanking and stepped up their inspections for Pyongyang-bound cargo. Nonetheless, Kim Jong-un essentially declared war on the United States by “beginning the process of preparing its missiles for an attack,” as reported by my AI colleague, Nathaniel Downes.

Anonymous hits Westboro Baptist Church over Sandy Hook picket plans

Anonymous hits Westboro Baptist Church over Sandy Hook picket plans

I’m beginning to think Anonymous is not such a bad group after all.  Especially in this instance and thwarting Karl Rove’s alleged voting irregularities via his GOTV operation…

Salon

The ever-hateful Westboro Baptist Church has not failed to deliver in the wake of the Newtown school massacre. The Church, notorious for picketing the funerals of fallen troops with “God Hates Fags” placards, announced Saturday that they would picket Sandy Hook elementary school, where 20 children and six adults were shot dead Friday.  Tweets from the Phelps family suggest they believe the horrors in Connecticut are a punishment from God for gay marriage.

Hacker collective Anonymous was swift to respond, releasing private information of  Westboro members including email addresses, phone numbers and home addresses. This video, decrying the church for spreading “seeds of hatred” was also released. It warns, “We will destroy you. We are coming.”

Thom Hartmann: Why it’s not crazy to think Anonymous stopped Karl Rove From Stealing the Election P2

This is the only political article that I’ll post today.   I believe it’s important to ponder the historical evidence of the contents of this video and draw your own conclusions.  I also believe it might be a good conversation piece around the dinner table today.

Once again, Happy Thanksgiving and I hope you enjoy learning the following information as much as I did…

Did Anonymous Save the Election from Karl Rove? (Part 1)

Anonymous claims it stopped Karl Rove from hacking the vote

Now before you say this is simply not possible, think about a few things:

Also, listen to Thom Hartmann explain:

H/t: Freak Out Nation

Daily Kos

The hacktivist group Anonymous is claiming credit for Mitt Romney’s loss, alleging that ORCA, Karl Rove’s GOTV ubercomputer, was actually a vote tabulation manipulation software.

We began following the digital traffic of one Karl Rove, a disrespecter of the Rule of Law, knowing that he claimed to be Kingmaker while grifting vast wealth from barons who gladly handed him gold to anoint another king while looking the other way. After a rather short time, we identified the digital structure of Karl’s operation and even that of his ORCA. This was an easy task in that barn doors were left open and his wind swept us inside.

Before the election Anonymous sent out a warning to Mr. Rove.  In my mind what I had imagined transpiring was that after the election, Anonymous would release two spreadsheets, the former being the precinct-correct tally, and the second being the post-manipulation tally.  An audit would discover that the “official” tally did not match the pre tabulation numbers, and to no one’s surprise the audit would reveal that the actual vote count matched the precinct-correct tally on Anonymous’ spreadsheet.

But that would have allowed the damage to be done, in order to catch the criminals.  Mitt Romney would have already been declared president, and it would take months of court proceedings to reverse the election, amid cries of “stealing the election!” from both sides.

Had it been effective, it would have ruined the Republican brand forever, or at least the next two years, whichever voters remember longer.  Given that they were so ready to forget the failures of George W. Bush, I don’t have faith in the permanence of that notion.

So the better route was to “close the barn doors” and prevent the manipulation from happening.

We coded and created, what we call The Great Oz. A targeted password protected firewall that we tested and refined over the past weeks. We placed this code on more than one of the digital tunnels and their destination that Karl’s not so smart worker bees planned to use on election night. We noticed that these tunnels were strategically placed to allow tunnel rats to race to the server sewers from three different states.  Ah yes, Karl tried to make it look like there were more than three but we quickly saw the folly of his ploy.

We watched as Karl’s weak corrupters repeatedly tried to penetrate The Great Oz.  These children of his were at a loss-how many times and how many passwords did they try-exactly 105.

The skeptics among us might be quick to dismiss this story, but I say not so fast.  We do know that Anonymous exists, and they have been adept at penetrating servers.  They have revealed gaping security holes, disabled websites in the name of a free and open internet, and even launched cyber attacks against the Pentagon. They stole NYPD surveillance video of OWS protesters. Though unconfirmed, they claim to have stolen one million Apple UDIDs from an FBI laptop.  There is no doubt that Anonymous, however ambiguous or loosely affiliated it may be, is real. And frankly they have proven themselves to be less bullshit prone than our politicians and broadcast media outlets.

Do you remember the hubris with which Karl Rove entered the election? How he was devastated and apoplectic at the Fox News brain trust for having called Ohio for Obama?  Mitt Romney didn’t even have a concession speech prepared, and while it’s easy to chalk that up to yet another inept step in his stumbling campaign, it’s easier to believe that it was a concrete example of his entitlement in action.

Those such as Sean Hannity are attacking the credentials as well as the character of the occupiers at Wall Street and this can’t no longer be allowed. Anonymous introduces Operation Fox Hunt. Anonymous intends on destroying the Fox news website because of their continued right wing conservative propaganda can’t no longer be tolerated.

They use words such as filthy, disgusting and dirty to describe the protesters since they will not belittling the occupiers we will simply shut them down. On November 5th we ask those who are able to commence attacks on Fox News. ‘Anonymous’ threatens to identify Mexicans involved with drug cartels

This is just absolutely astounding…

The Raw Story

The hacker activist group “Anonymous” said this weekend that it may begin revealing the names and addresses of individuals who work for the Zetas drug cartel, in hopes that the Mexican government would step in and arrest them.

Shortly after the release, announced in a video published in Spanish and English, some members of the group were claiming that “OpCartel” had been canceled because it was simply too dangerous. Others insisted the operation would continue, calling it a “war.”

In the video, a masked actor explains that “Anonymous” embarked on the operation after one of their members was allegedly kidnapped by the Zetas.

“We are fed up with taxi drivers, commanders and ‘police-Zetas’ officers of Xalapa, Córdoba, Orizaba, Nogales, Río Blanco and Camerinos, who are chickens and have made themselves the most loyal servants of these assholes,” the person explains. “For the time being, we will not post photos or the names of the taxi drivers, the journalists or the newspapers nor of the police officers, but if needed, we will publish them including their addresses, to see if by doing so the government will arrest them.”

It also lays out a clear threat: “You made a huge mistake in taking one of us. Release him. And if anything happens to him, you will always remember this upcoming November 5th.”

By threatening to identify the cartel workers, “Anonymous” could be opening more than just one can of worms. Members of rival cartels could theoretically use those individuals as bargaining chips, or attack them if it served their business interests. It could even theoretically spark a greater conflict between the Zetas and other groups.

Or, it could help to facilitate a government crackdown on the cartels, which has been raging for nearly five years on the orders of President Felipe Calderon. In that time, Mexico has become one of the bloodiest war zones on the planet, with over 34,000 dead in cartel violence.

The situation has become so severe that many leading officials, including a coalition of former world leaders, have called for major changes to U.S. drug policies that ultimately inflate black market prices and make the cartel business that much more lucrative and violent.

Despite recent polling that shows an unprecedented amount of support in the U.S. for ending the prohibition of marijuana — the cartels’ biggest cash crop by far — officials in the Obama administration are not willing to do that.

Anonymous to Leak Bank of America Documents Monday

Photo of Bank of America ATM Machine by Brian ...
Image via Wikipedia

Although Gawker is somewhat skeptical about this new offering of email leaks from “Anonymous”, apparently the activist group  is planning to expose Bank of America documents sometime today.   If I were those folks in the financial industry, I’d be very afraid of what may be about to hit the proverbial fan…

Gawker

A member of the activist collective Anonymous is claiming to be have emails and documents which prove “fraud” was committed by Bank of America employees, and the group says it’ll release them on Monday. The member, who goes by the Twitter handle OperationLeakS, has already posted an internal email from the formerly Bank of America-owned Balboa Insurance Company.

Anonymous to Leak Bank of America Documents Monday

The email is between Balboa Insurance vice president Peggy Johnson and other Balboa employees. (Click right to enlarge.) As far as we can tell, it doesn’t show anything suspicious, but was posted by OperationLeaks as a teaser. He also posted emails he claims are from the disgruntled employee who sent him the material. In one, the employee says he can “send you a copy of the certified letter sent to me by an AVP of BofA’s [HR department] telling me I am banned from stepping foot on BofA property or contacting their employee ever again.”

OperationLeaks, which runs the anti-Bank of America site BankofAmericasuck.com, says the employee contacted the group to blow the whistle on Bank of America’s shady business practices. “I seen some of the emails… I can tell you Grade A Fraud in its purest form…” read one tweet. “He Just told me he have GMAC emails showing BoA order to mix loan numbers to not match it’s Documents.. to foreclose on Americans.. Shame.”

An Anonymous insider told us he believes the leak is real. “From what I know and have been told, it’s legit,” he said. “Should be a round of emails, then some files, possible some more emails to follow that.” The documents should be released Monday on Anonleaks.ch, the same site where Anonymous posted thousands of internal emails from hacked security company HBGary last month. That leak exposed a legally-questionable plot to attack Wikileaks and ultimately led to the resignation of HBGary CEO Aaron Barr.

There are lots of reasons to be skeptical about this latest supposed leak. For now, it’s a guy who hates Bank of America and posted a single internal Balboa email and some seriously outrageous claims to Twitter. (When emailed for comment he posted our email to Twitter with “Fuck you, Gawker.”) It’s unclear what he’s actually got. And the whole incident echoes the time Wikileaks claimed to have its own Bank of America bombshell leak, which turned out to be a dud.

But those we’ve spoken to in Anonymous are convinced there’s something to this. Anonymous has a proven track record with leaks, and Bank of America has been in their crosshairs since they cut off payments to Wikileaks in December. If it’s real, it could be big. Keep your eye on anonleaks.ch: It should hit Monday.

Update: The leak will drop at 12:00am on Monday morning. According to Reuters, a Bank of America spokesman has confirmed the existence of a leak, saying it consists of “non-foreclosure related clerical and administrative documents stolen by a former Balboa Insurance employee.” The spokesman told Reuters, “We are confident that his extravagant assertions are untrue.”

UPDATE: It appears some of the emails may have been leaked already.
