Barack Hussein Obama was not my first choice during the primaries.  I was behind the Clinton campaign because in my opinion her experience was unquestionable and her standing within minority communities was solid.

Barack Obama, on the otherhand, was untested and “too new”  to possibly get through the primaries, or so I thought.   Of course all that changed when he won Iowa and other primaries with a respectable margin.  At some point, I believe it was after the South Carolina primary, I decided (with some convincing from an online friend) to give Barack Obama a chance.   You see, I needed to see  CHANGE in the way this country had been run for eight years and Obama needed a CHANCE from millions of Americans that believed he could implement that change.

I began donating money to his campaign, I  participated in a couple of “get out the vote” community projects.  As time went on, I was more and more convinced that Obama was the right man for the job.

His first few months in office had many pundits saying that we are now in a post racial period in American History.  More dubious pundits warned that the “honeymoon” would be over soon enough.   We found the former not to be true at all, from any perspective.  We found the latter to be quite true.

I have observed the nastiness, hidden racism (like Obama Waffle Mix at last year’s Value Voters’ Summit), people declaring that his Birth Certificate was a forgery, Teabaggers with some of the weirdest signs ever; Men carrying guns to PRESIDENTIAL EVENTS (where the hell is the United States Secret Service?)  From what I have read, those carrying guns to those events were not in any violation of the law.  However, I think Congress should get off their “do nothing” asses (Dems and GOPs) and pass a bill that prohibits anyone with a firearm from coming within 1000 ft of where the POTUS is speaking.

This blog is in no way an attempt to stifle free speech.  However, I am a firm believer of free speech on BOTH sides of an issue.  Hence, I welcome all comments, pro and con.

Having said all of the above, now its time for some fun.  For all the Teabaggers and Birthers out there, this song’s for you!

The Obama achievements are too numerous and too slanted that it makes you look unfair.

The list is way too long and includes too trivial things that the big stuff gets drowned out. Consider changing it.

The list looks unfair because adding a shuttle fight is seen as an achievement. Some consider it a waste of money. If you see it as an achievement, fair enough, but then you should mention that Obama made sure the shuttle was discontinued forever.

Obama is great but truth is more important. You can do both!

Don’t worry, Obama will be guaranteed re-election. 10% of Americans hate change and always vote for the incumbent. That makes Obama have to get only 40% of the voters, which he will do!

    • Tammy, that list comes from this site: http://b4bmorenews.blogspot.com/2010/09/new-244-accomplishments-of-president.html, not me. I just posted the achievements as presented from the mentioned site.

However Tammy, I, for on am quite critical of the President when I feel he is not working in the interest of the American people, but solely to appease the Majority Party in Congress (since 2010.)

I also follow the events and bills passed in favor of the POTUS’ agenda. I’m not quite sure I can agree that ANYTHING on the list of accomplishments is trivial.

For further criticism and/or consideration of your thoughts about the piece, perhaps contacting the author of the article might be best.

Thanks for your comment anyway. :)

    Obama’s achievements:
Destroyed:American economy, America’s reputation in the world, severely weakened our geopolitical position especially in the Middle East.
Hired several members of Muslim Brotherhood as his advisers.
    Strengthened Muslim brotherhood in Egypt.
Instilled Al Qaeda government in Libya.
Allowing Iran to develop nuclear weapons and means of delivery.
Continuing the un-winnable war in Afghanistan, and inefficient occupation in Iraq.
Pressuring, Israel, our only reliable ally in ME to surrender their heartland to genocidal Arab enemies.

Paying off the people who contributed to his campaign: including Goldman Sachs, and Labor bosses.
    One of his latest treason:
Giving 2 billion of American tax-payers dollars, to a Brazilian Oil Exploration Company (which is the 8th largest company in the entire world), to drill for oil off the coast of Brazil!
This oil has already been sold to China by Brasil and not a drop of it will come to America.
Apparently now, after Obama created more jobs in China (through his “stimulus” that resulted in Americans buying even more Chinese products) he wants to make sure that they have enough oil.

    Personal achievements:
Successfully hiding from American people all his personal records:
Place of issuance of Social Security, original birth certificate, his SAT scores, other exam and standardized test scores. (Obviously his scores must be lousy, otherwise he would not hide them.)

His biggest personal achievement is that so many Americans still don’t see that he is a traitor bent upon destroying our country.

    • Hi “dispeller”. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but none of us are entitled to our own facts;)

    • You are correct. In fact, I wonder why tying his shoelaces was not on the list of accomplishments. I also know that it’s pointless to try and open the eyes of anyone who is not open-minded. The Left doesn’t want to hear anything that goes against the concrete beliefs they have, and the Right is no different! If I ever run into a truly objective individual, it would be worth the debate. In fact, I did ask an Obama supporter why, and I actually wanted to understand the opposing point of view. The answer was more or less, “because he is for the middle class!” Now, that was the best he could give me, and when I asked how much he knew about our Constitution, he replied, “Not much, why?” This kind of exchange only raises my blood pressure, and because I took the time to write this, you can bet my head will be chewed off. Not a single person will want to know why I think the way I do, nor will anyone accept whatever I can offer to support my view. The country of my childhood is gone, and those generations between now and then are ignorant of what the founding documents are based upon, what they mean, and why they should be protected. My generation failed to protect and defend a way of life we cherished, not because we didn’t care, but because the changes came so small and incrementally that we didn’t notice until it was too late! As for this blog, “The Fifth Column,” is the association and connection with Hitler’s fifth column supposed to be a given? What on earth made you choose the name?

      blood pressure!

    • Rhema!

Not to mention selling out our Country to the UN. His agenda is to be a puppet to the big bankers. Squashing the middle class so we become dependent on government. he has destroyed more of our freedoms than George Bush. and soon we will be under the hand of the UN. Completely losing our sovereignty as a Nation. But people are so duped by this guy, They will walk with him into a fiery furnace. No questions asked. Because it could never happen here they think. And he is a Devil in sheep’s clothing, and he knows it. Too bad they fell for it. 4 years from now they will finally see it come to pass, even sooner than that I predict. We will find ourselves slaves to the world banks, and the poor and middle class will be crushed. Give him 4 more years and you will have less rights than the slaves had before the civil war. And it’s as plain as the nose on our faces. See Links:( http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=alex+jones+end+game&ei=UTF-8&fr=moz35 )and ( http://video.search.yahoo.com/video/play?p=alex+jones+endgame&tnr=21&vid=&turl=http%3A%2F%2Fts2.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3Dv.4561329047928837%26pid%3D15.1&tit=EndGame+HQ+full+length+version ) These are just the tip of the iceberg and it’s all documented. But the the Holy Bible says. “If the blind lead the blind they will both fall into the ditch. Obama is a Mason that’s why he hangs around Jay Zee and Beyonce. Jay Zee is a 33rd degree mason, They are devil worshipers and all followers of Bathemut the grand architect or Lucifer himself. Along with Oprah and all her followers. As for using Morgan Freeman to promote his campaign. ” (2Co 11:14) And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Since when does any moral values come out of Hollywood. He may be a nice guy, But he is deceived along with so many others. They say gay & lesbianism is OK also and that there born that way. They even say that the bible doesn’t even condemn it. Which is a flat out lie. But the truth that is in the Holy Bible explains why they are the way they are. And I Quote.

Wherefore God also gave them up, to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever., Amen. For this cause, God gave them up, unto vile affections: for even, their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also2532 the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another;, men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over, to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;, Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
      (Rom 1:24-32)
God nor I hate them, But He does hate there sin and says to repent! So they will be free and without guilt. We will all stand before the judgement seat of God. I will, You will, no mater what your stature in this life is. Lets follow the will of God again and we will see our country be restored. Forsake Him, And this country will fall.

“dispeller” – obviously you get all of your information from FOX & Rush – save us all from that network which tells all the lies!!
Bush destroyed the US economy and contributed to ruining the world economy which is still making it hard for the US to climb out of the mess that Bush created!

I thank God every day for President Obama – the problems he has faced in his 2 1/2 yrs are almost biblical – the poor guy couldn’t even complete a much needed vacation this summer due to the hurricane.
Plus, the bonus we all got when we elected this remarkable man was in our fabulous First Lady! If she does nothing else but go to schools and tell children in poor areas of our country who go to run down schools how much she loved being smart, that she loved getting good grades and that she never would have dreamed of skipping school, she will have accomplished something awesome – lowering the dropout rate!! But, of course, that is just one of the many things this awesome woman is doing – she is bringing much needed attention to our military families, and of course, she has also brought attention to the obesity in this country which contributes so much to our enormous health care costs.

Our country likes to shoot itself in the foot so I know we have a lot of work to do to make sure he is re-elected. I live in absolute terror of having all 3 branches of the govt run by the GOP – goodbye health care that covers pre-existing conditions, goodbye to a lot of the advances women have made in the last several decades, goodbye to science, stem cell research etc. – hello to 100% corporate take over of our govt.

  4. Hi again Jayne…well stated!

  5. I just discovered your site, and am linking my readers to your column about Condi and race. Thanks. I’m a white, Rep. evangelical who loves and voted for Barack Obama and plan to again. The slander against him coming from my fellow Christians is shameful.

  6. I’m a white, Rep. evangelical who loves and voted for Barack Obama and plan to again. The slander against him coming from my fellow Christians is shameful.

Mary everyone is welcome to comment here.

I have been puzzled by those on the Right who call themselves Christians, yet attack President Obama so viciously…almost as if possessed by some evil force.

It says a lot about you and your true values as a Christian, Mary, to see past the color of one’s skin and understand the inherently good qualities about our President.

Thank you, Mary. I have renewed faith that not all Christian Evangelicals on the right are convinced the POTUS is a Kenyan, Muslim, usurper who has no clue how to be President of the United States.

    Sir/Madam:

You open your statement with sarcasm and an assumption that the Left doesn’t want to hear anything that goes against the “concrete” beliefs that they have. You do recognize that the Right is no different so that’s good.

Objectivity in today’s volatile political climate has been set aside and partisan politics has taken it’s place.

I’m supporting Obama because I have not been blinded by racism disguised as: He’s a foreigner; he spends too much; he’s stupid; he’s a gutter rat; he’s a gangster; he doesn’t understand this country’s exceptionalism; he apologizes over seas for this country; he’s not one of us; and so on and so forth.

As a Black Woman in her late sixties, I have seen a lot. You say your country has lost it’s way and in so many words, you’d like your country back. What country is that? What era if I might ask?

Someone else expressed something similar and this is what I told her:

I was born in 1946 in NYC. My first recollection of something being “not quite right” in our country were the horrific scenes on television in the 50′s and 60′s. Images of lynched men and women (even children). Images of dogs and sheriffs weilding water hoses at people who were protesting against Jim Crow laws.

Then, when I was about 10 yrs old, I started reading some of my mom’s books which gave me an insight into southern life for the Black man and his family. Such authors as James Baldwin, Langston Hughes, Ralph Ellison and others who’s own experiences dealing with “Jim Crow” in the south was heart wrenching and spell binding all at once.

Cutting to the chase, Joann, apparently you and I have two different views of what this country used to be like.

Today, for the first time in history we have a Black president. Something that would have been impossible during those “wonderful years” you speak of.

Today, there’s no more lynching of men, women and children over the most mundane reason.

Today, there are people who care about minorities; gay & lesbian issues; illegal immigrants (especially children who were brought here through no fault of their own); Women’s reproductive issues (Joann, why does your side want less government intrusion on so many issues and yet are all for intruding into the privacy of a woman’s body?)

Anyway this response has gone on way too long.

Bottom line, I love my country as well, but I love the achievements we have made from where we were to where we are—(financial crisis not withstanding)—we’re still the greatest country in the world, in my opinion.

So when I hear folks say they want their country back, my response is progression is better than regression.

Duckyack, this is not about one man to me, it’s about our government making intelligent choices and governing for ALL the people, not just their special interests. I would say Obama has some issues that don’t set well with me, including continuing Bush’s failed policies in Afghanistan. However, as the guy told you earlier…he IS for the middle class, the people that made the economy run smoothly (until some folks decided to screw the middle class by gambling their savings and pensions away.)

Obama is NOT a partisan. He tried working with Congress from Day One. He even appointed a Republican to his cabinet but the powers that be made him resign. You see duckyack, from the day of Obama’s inauguration, ideologues from Congress met at a nearby restaurant to map out their plan to defeat Obama so that he could be a one term President.

Duckyack thank you for stopping by.

  8. You are two years older, and had you not assumed I am a racist and long for the days of “lynching” we could have talked in a civil way. As it is, I guess you are not yet willing to let go of a past that I had nothing to do with, and that irks me. Oh wait, yes I did have something to do with your past. I fought for civil rights–I was the first to add Martin Luther King to the list of school days off to celebrate birthdays of so-called other great men. It was not a popular thing to do. I did a number of things to support the rights of man–not just the white man–I didn’t grow up black like you, but I did experience horrors that were equal to yours any day you want to compare! I am Blackfoot, and you have nothing on me and my past. The difference however, is that I, long ago stopped be a victim in a sad story and stopped blaming everybody who was not my color for everything I want to use as an excuse. It’s time you people got over it! I made the best life I could. Isn’t it time you did the same?

    • The sample comment I included was aimed more at the lady I was writing to. I did not assume ANYTHING about you. I was merely showing you how I felt when ANYONE speaks of going back to the Way America was. That’s why I asked you what era were you talking about. I’m not blaming anyone about anything. You misread the entire comment apparently. Thank you for stopping by.

      8-29-12:

I found this graphic and thought it appropos for my interpretation of the phrase: “We want our country back”:

    • @ duckyack

”I am Blackfoot, and you have nothing on me and my past. The difference however, is that I, long ago, stopped being a victim in a sad story and stopped blaming everybody who was not my color for everything I want to use as an excuse. It’s time you people got over it! I made the best life I could. Isn’t it time you did the same?”

As a rule, I refrain from arguments over who suffered more. It\’s an unwinnable argument. But one thing is clear from your post – if you are, indeed, a Blackfoot – the injury to ”you people” was permanent. I don’t know how to respond to your post except with sadness and pity. So it’s hard to come down on you too harshly.

African Americans never went through the ”only good Injun’ is a dead Injun’” type of experience here. But African Americans (and those who mixed with us – I have Cherokee AND Caucasian blood in my veins) and those Americans of ALL colors and ethnicities who value justice and freedom do not now, and never have, blamed ”everybody who is not my color” for our difficulties in life. Are you serious? Do you think we have forgotten the bloodshed of John Brown and the Civil War? Do you think we have forgotten the heroism
      of the Underground Railroad?

But African Americans never will, and never should, ”get over it”. Our struggles have resulted in a better America for all – including ”YOUR people” (not to mention an African American President of the United
States.) Your ”getting over it” has resulted in Blackfoot oblivion.

I hope you are not really Blackfoot. Your post just adds to the tragedy.

  9. Shall I imply you are a liar, too? If I really am Blackfoot?! Are you kidding me–I don’t even know you. Why would I feel the need to makeup my heritage?
I didn’t say forget about the past. I said get over it, as in, move on–leave the past to the dead. Every single person in this country has heard the sad stories of Indians and blacks. Who is left to tell? And I wouldn’t play that other stupid game of ‘who suffered most’. Every person has their own baggage, and I don’t care about comparisons. I am done feeling sad and sorry for myself and my people. It enhances nothing and brings nothing back. As far as a President of your own and what he’s doing for you and yours, you should know something of our US Constitution and what it was intended to do. It is a concrete document, a covenant between a people and its government of a Republic, not a Democracy. We have never been a Democracy! A Republic upholds the truth that all men are born free by virtue of birth. It is that human virtue that makes us free, and it is not a gift from the government. That said, all of the atrocities in our history have been created by a federal government acting unconstitutionally. The founders understood human nature and that given the opportunity, leaders would take advantage of authority and more or less screw the people whenever it brought them more wealth and power. That is how our government became overly bloated and how the federal government now thinks it is the entity handing out freedom. I made it my business to understand why things happened the way they did, and it was all about greed and lust and nothing about our most precious document. By the way, you know even less about my people and Blackfoot oblivion, and we no longer view ourselves as tragic. We wish you wouldn’t either, if that makes any difference to you at all.

    • You said “I didn’t say forget about the past. I said get over it, as in, move on–leave the past to the dead. Every single person in this country has heard the sad stories of Indians and blacks. Who is left to tell?”

Well I don’t think any of your ancestors who suffered horribly in this country would be happy to know you have gotten over it. What do your children (or, for that matter, ALL children) learn from your great grand parents’ suffering if you get over it. Do you REALLY think every single person in this country has heard the sad story of “Indians and blacks” (your terminology, not mine)? If so, then why are so many Americans so unsympathetic to our plights today?

My limited knowledge of my history as well as yours makes me an unapologetic warrior (in my own heart and in my own way) for justice for ALL people ’till the day I die.

“Get over it”? I don’t think you really mean that. I think it’s your only way of coping with what you mistakenly view as utter and complete defeat.

  10. If I cannot get you to at least take a look at the other side, then I quit, and we can part company.
Re: Picking at the sore to make sure it never heals. My ancestors were a very proud people, and they would be very disappointed if those of us left today displayed any kind of wimpy and whiny behavior. That would mean that we had indeed been obliterated, as your say. One cannot be proud of survival and cry about the past at the same time. All of the people of the Sioux Nation have always had too much pride to continuously complain and blame! Don’t presume that my people are on the same level as yours relative to points of view regarding the past. Our efforts are toward a better life while we pull ourselves up to create a better tomorrow. We also work at accepting that which we cannot change and we won’t hold out our hands demanding a payoff from those who did nothing to us in another time. Of course we have issues, but they are handled with honor and integrity. Can you really not see that you have opportunities your parents didn’t have and that future generation has more than the one before? Aren’t you responsible for anything in your life?
Pride is what’s missing in your sad story, and no matter how kstreet670 justifies the programs said to benefit your people; they do nothing more than create more and more dependence on government and take away from others who pay for it. The big difference in your story and mine is simply this: The indigenous people of this land lived with pride in self and respect for everything living. They would die all over again before they would accept entitlements of any kind. And as long as some are so willing to blame and pander to white guilt, the dependence on government will continue to grow and governmental undermining of an entire race will eventually conclude in the total removal of that race. This has happened before, and it will happen again. Can you not see that rather than helping, the federal government is using you?
And this brings me to your question; [“What do your children (or, for that matter, ALL children) learn from your great grand parents’ suffering if you get over it. Do you REALLY think every single person in this country has heard the sad story of “Indians and blacks” (your terminology, not mine)? If so, then why are so many Americans so unsympathetic to our plights today?”] No sympathy? The sympathy bucket went dry after having been used up by people making demands they have no legitimate right to. Reasonable people are overworked trying to make “offended” groups recognize that although they had nothing to do with the racism toward your people, white guilt accepted and took on that burden. But they did not, nor should anyone expect them to carry that load forever. Folks naturally turn a deaf ear to perpetual-victim, blame game, because they’ve had enough!
We all know what is meant by the term, spoiled brat. Those kids are created by parents and others who give, give, and keep on giving until the spoiled brat has everything but appreciates nothing. At some point the entitlements must stop, and they will stop. The only thing accomplished by demanding payback to the extent of creating confusion and anger in the hearts of those who honestly wanted to make amends, is an eventual bucket of ice water in the face. It’s like kicking a dead horse—no matter how hard you kick, he ain’t getting’ up again. And times are such that your horse is slowing down and about ready to drop. When he does, your progress will be followed by regression. You will have created the very situation you’ve worked so hard to force into a big payoff. Then, where will you be?
You should try and come to grips to understand precisely what it is you so despise and why. Just whom do you blame for the history of your people, and how many of those are alive today? Who is it you want to punish? And for what, exactly? The sufferings of prior generations? That’s not really fair, is it? Why do you believe you should benefit from the enslavement of those who actually went through it? And why, in God’s name, do you feel you have a right to demand something from people who had nothing to do with the past? Visiting the sins of the father upon the sons is not acceptable. If your mother committed a crime for which she was given a twenty-year sentence, but she died and couldn’t do the whole stint. Would it be OK if you were forced into finishing it for her?
Governmental entitlements keep people dependent and ignorant, but it never, ever encourages the value of a work ethic, self-respect, or personal dreams for the future. It does not get anyone over on anybody else. Pain is pain, and no matter who you are, when it hurts, it feels as if it’s the worst in the world! All people suffer from all kinds of life’s injustices. There are those who suffer child sexual abuse, physical abuse, gender abuse, spousal abuse, gender prejudices and bias, faith biases, and all the other kinds of man’s inhumanity to man. Being female is still enough to receive poor treatment and biases. Over weight people are now being publically told they cannot eat or drink certain high calorie items. A deformity and looking different from the norm isn’t easy, by any means, and if you dare light up a cigarette in most places you are ostracized and thrown out. Talk about “isms,” as in racism, what do we call that one?
Mean and cruel individuals will always seek out targets for their evil deeds. We have no cure for that! But decent people and decent treatment of others are also around, even more so. Regardless of color and ethnicity, some folks will be subjected to unfairness and the horrors of life. None of that is more ugly or hurtful than any other kind of mistreatment from one human being against another. Life is not fair, and it’s not right, but it’s all we have. You can bet the family farm that the ruling elite, regardless of their skin being the same as yours, will never do right by you. They never have, and they’re not about to start now. But Muslims are the new class of victims now. They are already taking your place as the favorite sons of the Progressive movement. These new victims have a lot more to offer than votes, and it’s votes you are trading for “program” freebies—you’re being bought, and that should scare you because eventually you’ll become a burden and too costly for a government who is giving it all to the new victims! Don’t succumb to the elite Progressive rulers agenda, and create your own label.

  11. FYI, injustice is not a thing of the past.

    As I said above:

“Get over it”? I don’t think you really mean that. I think it’s your only way of coping with what you mistakenly view as utter and complete defeat.

  12. 11/10/12 first:sometime in the last three days there was a study of bees amount other examples, on PBS about intellegence and how it works. Maybe a nova program.
Second: there is a comedy routine done
