Tea Party Begs Queen Elizabeth II – Take Us Back Please?

More “sorting out the crazies”

Addicting Info

After the election, a wide variety of responses to the complete disconnect between reality and the right-wing blogosphere have emerged. On the popular right-wing website the Free Republic, one particular tea party member has posted an Open letter to the Queen of England to much applause, which we will reproduce now for your amusement:

Your Majesty,

We, the people of the former American colonies, would like to offer our most sincere apology over that little misunderstanding we had 236 years ago. Had we known that we were going to be subjects anyway, we could have saved a lot of trouble and hard feelings.

We were under the mistaken belief that we would be free, sovereign citizens; we believed that our hard work would yield its own rewards without someone coming along and taking what we built in the name of “Fairness.” We thought our laws and Constitution would protect us from a foreign born dictator, and our freedom to worship would prevent us from becoming a corrupt, morally bankrupt society (silly us).

Little did we know that our own free press would intentionally sabotage, deceive and withhold the truth from us in order to reelect a Socialist that still holds distain for our nation and contempt for its founding principles. Nor did we believe that there would be so many citizens dependent on government handouts that they would blindly elect an unqualified charlatan, let alone reelect him.

Anyway, Your Grace, we are truly sorry and humbly sincerely beg your forgiveness. If you can find it in your heart to forgive us and take us back, we promise never to trade British oppression for Socialist tyranny again.

Your most humble servants,

The American People

Now, beyond the bad grammar, the letter has a few issues. One, it is clear this person operates under the banner of the “Sovereign Citizens,” a group listed as domestic terrorists by the FBI.  But more than that, they have no idea how the rest of the world works.

To run away from Obamacare, which requires the purchase of private insurance, they have decided to run to a single payer, socialist, healthcare system.  The UK is also a member of the European Union.  Many tea party members have commented negatively on the structure of the European Union, stating as such “Marxism provided the intellectual foundations of the modern European welfare state.”

But, for our friends in the United Kingdom, and to the Queen herself, I apologize and tell them that, no, we will not force them to endure the funny hat wearing, bad sign carrying buffoons of the Tea Party, and shall keep them for ourselves. They might be a few sticks short of a bundle, but we would not wish to unleash their insanity on to the nobility of the United Kingdom.

Tea Party Patriots Responds To Maxine Waters ‘Go To Hell’ Comment

A couple of days ago, Rep. Maxine Waters told a crowd of supporters that “…the tea party can go straight to hell”.

HuffPo puts it all into context and reports the Tea Party Patriots response…

Huffington Post

The leaders of the Tea Party Patriots group are out with a response to contentious remarks made by Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) over the weekend regarding the coalition of conservative activists.

“We’ve had Democrats calling American citizens ‘terrorists’ and ‘hostage takers,’ and now an elected Democratic representative says that we can ‘go straight to hell,’” Mark Meckler and Jenny Beth Martin said in a statement. “The president and all leaders of the Democratic Party, who have called for civility in the past, are neglecting to censure their own. Is civility only required from their opponents? Perhaps it’s time for a new-NEW era of civility.”

They added, “The president’s silence on these latest violations of civility has been deafening, but not surprising.”

Waters made the comments in question while speaking at a forum in her home state on Saturday.

With California’s jobless rate now 12 percent, the second-highest rate of unemployment in the nation after Nevada, talk about jobs, the economy and the partisan squabbling in Congress dominated the “Kitchen Table Summit.””I’m not afraid of anybody,” Waters told the crowd. “This is a tough game. You can’t be intimidated. You can’t be frightened. And as far as I’m concerned, the Tea Party can go straight to hell.”

Last week, Waters made headlines with critical remarks she made about the route taken by President Barack Obama on his Midwest bus tour.

“We don’t know why on this trip that he’s in the United States now, he’s not in any black community,” she said. “We want to give him every opportunity, but our people are hurting. The unemployment is unconscionable.”

During an appearance on CNN on Sunday, Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) explained, “We are totally frustrated, and people need to know that the president feels their pain.” He added, “Almost every African American person I spoke to said he needs to fight, and fight harder.”

REPORT: Number Of Tea Party Events Down More Than 50 Percent In 2011

Looks like the tea party franchise is in deep fiscal trouble…

Think Progress

Last September, Tea Party Patriots co-founder Jenny Beth Martin answered critics who predicted that the movement would soon peter out: “The Tea Party movement is here to stay.” Seven months later, presidential candidate Herman Cain — a Tea Party favorite — echoed the same sentiment: “I have people asking me all the time. Do you think this Tea-Party ‘thing’ is going to go away? [...] No, it’s not going away. It’s gonna get stronger and stronger.”

A ThinkProgress investigation, however, shows a far different picture. Indeed, empirical evidence points to one conclusion: Tea Party activity has declined sharply thus far in 2011.

For this report, ThinkProgress examined the total number of events across the country listed on the Tea Party Patriots (TPP) and Americans for Prosperity (AFP) websites each month. We then compared the number of Tea Parties that occurred in 2010 with the number that took place in the first seven months of 2011.

The results were startling. For TPP, fewer than half the number of Tea Party events took place in the first seven months of 2011 compared to the same time period in 2010. Furthermore, while an average of 337 Tea Parties were held across the country each month of 2010, this year that number has dropped to just 166 events per month and continues to decline.
