Joe Walsh Obamacare Opposition Prompts Tea Party Favorite To Suggest People ‘Break The Law’

Joe Walsh Obamacare

You did in fact lose your bid for re-election Mr. Walsh.  Perhaps you need to gather your marbles and go home.  Game over for you, sir.

Incendiary rhetoric only make you and your party look uh…”out of touch” with reality.

The Huffington Post

Former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.), a staunch opponent of the Affordable Care Act, suggested people “defy and or break the law and engage in civil disobedience” in response to Obamacare restrictions or new gun laws.

“We may have to shed blood every couple hundred years to preserve our freedoms,” Walsh told supporters at a rally, according to Chicago’s DNAinfo.

Walsh also criticized conservatives who don’t “understand we’re at war [with progressives.]” DNAinfo reports:

Walsh said there is a battle between the old values of freedom against the new emphasis on government control. “These two Americas are having it out,” he said, adding it was the old, traditional conception of America against the new, progressive America.

“I do want to go back,” he said.

Although he talked tough politically, saying, “We have no Republican Party in this state — none,” he added, “I’m not there yet with a third-party movement.”

He also said, “Don’t yet give up on the Republican Party.”

During his time in Congress, Walsh continually expressed opposition to the Affordable Care Act, once saying he “would have voted to repeal ObamaCare” once a month if he were the House Speaker. Walsh spent two years in Congress before being defeatedby Democratic challenger Tammy Duckworth in November.

Walsh isn’t the only tea party favorite to have a strong opposition to Obamacare. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) filed the first bill of the new legislative session “to repeal Obamacare in its entirety.”

Duckworth rips Walsh over ‘dress’ attack: Mostly I’ve worn one color – camouflage

Tammy Duckworth in Rolling Meadows Illinois debate

Rep. Joe Walsh may be in for a rude awakening on Election Day…

The Raw Story

In a debate stunt gone wrong on Tuesday night, incumbent Congressman Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) attacked his Democratic challenger, Iraq War veteran Tammy Duckworth, by showing a photo of Duckworth choosing her dress for the 2012 Democratic National Convention, which she neatly turned around by calling attention to her military service.

At the rambunctious debate in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, Walsh accused Duckworth of being a DC-Beltway insider candidate.

According to Talking Points Memo, Walsh said, “And I think darn near everybody in this audience is sick and tired — and I’ll say with a smile — of Republicans and Democrats, elected officials, who seem to poll test every syllable of every word that they utter, because they’re so afraid of offending people and losing votes.  You’re seeing the perfect example of that up here on this stage. Tammy Duckworth will not say a thing that David Axelrod and her advisers won’t let her say.”

He then held up a photo of Duckworth picking out a dress in order to attack her for the apparent sin of wanting to wear something nice on national television.

“I was marching in a parade in Schaumburg (IL), Sunday, two days before the Democratic convention,” he said, “when Tammy Duckworth was on a stage down in Charlotte (NC) — if you can look at the picture — picking out a dress for her speech Tuesday night.”

Duckworth responded in her own statement, saying, “And yes, I do sometimes look at the clothes that I wear, but for most of my adult life, I’ve worn one color — it’s called camouflage.”

Walsh is engaged in a fierce battle with Duckworth for Chicago’s 8th District.  Earlier this year, Walsh claimed that Duckworth, who lost both legs when her helicopter was shot down in Iraq, was not a “true hero” in the sense that she has talked about her service in Iraq as part of her campaign.  According to Walsh, “Our true heroes, the men and women who served us, it’s the last thing in the world they talk about. That’s why we are so indebted and in awe of what they have done.”

Duckworth responded in the debate, “My opponent has attempted to criticize me for talking about my military service. But I served — and he didn’t, so you’ll forgive me if I talk about it a little bit now — because I think it’s important. My military service is key to understanding who I am as a person. It is at the core of my life of service to this nation. You know, when you’re part of a unit, it’s not about the individual, it’s about the mission and banding together to get things done.”

TPM reports that “A survey from mid-September conducted by Democratic firm Public Policy Polling, commissioned by the League of Conservation Voters, showed Duckworth leading Walsh by a margin of 52 percent to 38 percent.”

Joe Walsh: Democrats Want Hispanics, African Americans ‘Dependent On Government’

Joe Walsh

This guy and Alan West are the biggest buffoons in the GOP…

The Huffington Post

Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) made another controversial remark last week, telling constituents that Democrats want Hispanics to be dependent on government — and claiming that African Americans already are.

“The Democratic Party promises groups of people everything,” Walsh, a conservative freshman from suburban Chicago, said during a Schaumburg, Ill., speech caught on video provided by CREDO SuperPAC, an anti-tea party group. “They want the Hispanic vote, they want Hispanics to be dependent on government, just like they got African Americans dependent on government. That’s their game.”

Walsh goes on to say that civil rights activist Jesse Jackson “would be out of work if [African Americans] weren’t dependent on government.”

Walsh was elected in 2010, part of a wave of tea party-backed candidates elected to the House of Representatives that year. His district in the northern Chicago suburbs is a key target for Democrats this year. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is putting its weight behind his opponent, Tammy Duckworth, as part of a “Red to Blue” effort to take back the House, the DCCC chairman, Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) said in March.

Walsh has a flair for the dramatic in his speeches, and last week’s was no different. He began to speak loudly, telling his constituents he gets “wound up” for them. “I am scared. I really am scared, Patrick, that we’re past the point — we have so many people now dependent on government, so many people want handouts,” he said.

Walsh also has a history of controversial remarks about race — and plenty of other issues. He said in April that Obama was elected because he’s black, telling constituents at another town hall that electing the first African American president “made us feel good about [our]self.”

He came under fire for comments to Politico in March about Duckworth, a veteran who lost both of her legs and part of an arm while serving in Iraq:

“I have so much respect for what she did in the fact that she sacrificed her body for this country,” said Walsh, simultaneously lowering his voice as he leaned forward before pausing for dramatic effect. “Ehhh. Now let’s move on.”

Woman at Rep. Joe Walsh town hall: Obama a seditious socialist, Communist, Nazi

repjoewalsh-GageSkidmore

Think Progress

At a town hall event hosted by Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) on Saturday, a constituent claimed President Barack Obama secretly believed in socialism, communism and Nazism.

Walsh, a tea party favorite, told his constituents in Streamwood that “nobody is a bad person in this debate.” But he railed against Democrats for refusing to state their true beliefs, which consisted of letting “the government take care of all of us.”

“Obama wants everybody on government run health care,” he said. “That is a legitimate opinion, I wish he were honest and he would tell us that.”

“Let them go to Europe,” a constituent at the town hall replied. “We are the only country on this planet that is still semi-free — until the 1900s.”

“We’re losing it,” Walsh interrupted.

“I know we are, that is the problem,” she continued. “But we fought for this, we need to keep our freedom and we aren’t because of the seditious behavior of people who lie about who they are and get into all of our public offices, and then we can’t get them out in time before they do the damage and we have been sleeping for one hundred years. It is sedition. I mean, they did it underground. If they are honest brokers and they believe in what they’re saying and where they want this country to go — like Obama — then you’re right he should have said it before he was elected, and said I’m a socialist, I believe in socialism, in communism, Nazism, whatever, and say this is where I want to lead the country — not do it underhandedly.”

Walsh said regardless of political labels the country had a good idea of the President’s political objectives.

“However you want to label or define it, don’t you think after three and a half years as a country now we have a really good idea where this President wants to go?” he said.

Rep. Joe Walsh: Veterans at ‘Occupy Wall Street’ protests are anti-American

The Raw Story

Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) on Saturday blasted the “Occupy Wall Street” movement and suggested it was a ploy to help re-elect Barack Obama in 2012.

“I generally think this whole Occupy Wall Street stuff is a well orchestrated, well-funded far left effort to disrupt the American people and rile up Obama’s left base,” he said at a town hall meeting in Gurnee. “I think these are generally spoiled, pampered, unfocused, clueless young people and a smattering of other people who don’t understand this country and are advocating anti-American solutions.”

“They don’t at all represent America and I think that the president and the White House and the Democrats kind of want to encourage it and now they’re scared because these folks are doing some pretty ugly things and now our Democratic politicians are conflicted,” he continued. “But its an anti-American, well funded left wing effort that may disrupt a lot of things next year, but they are clueless when it comes to what this country is all about and the rest of the country ought to educate them.”

Walsh, a tea party favorite in Congress, added that even veterans at “Occupy Wall Street” protests around the country were anti-American because they advocated “socialist solutions.”

When questioned about what the protest was actually about, Walsh said it was based on a 14-point manifesto.

He appeared to be making reference to aproposed list of demands posted on the forum of the “Occupy Wall Street” website. Some people have reported that the demands represented the protesters views, but the only document to have been officially endorsed by the group is the “Declaration of the Occupation.”

Rep. Joe Walsh Explains His ‘Don’t Blame Banks’ Rant: I ‘Was Working On An Empty Stomach’

Yeah right Joe…

Think Progress

Yesterday, ThinkProgress reported on a testy exchange between Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) and a group of his constituents during a meeting. At several points during the discussion, Walsh lost his temper, screaming and threatening to eject participants in the meeting. “Don’t blame banks,” yelled Walsh, who disagreed with a constituent who correctly noted that banks use the revolving door and campaign contributions to dominate government.

After our story, the Capitol Fax, an Illinois political website, contacted Walsh for a response. Walsh wrote in an e-mail that he was “working on an empty stomach and had a quicker fuse than normal.” Despite the fact Walsh’s biggest campaign benefactors come from the banking industry — $132,329 in campaign contributions from the finance industry and $18,400 from bank employees — the freshman congressman claims that he’s “no pal of the big banks.” He also reiterated, “but [banks] didn’t get us into this mess — government policy” did:

I do these cup of joe’s every wkend, I show up at a coffee shop or restaurant anywhere in district and anyone can come meet with me and talk to me about anything. They are fun, engaging sessions, I often get people who disagree w me on issues at these events and the conversation can be very spirited. I am very passionate at these events as well as at my town halls. This was no different except I was working on an empty stomach and had a quicker fuse than normal.

The woman I had the heated exchange with was great and she appreciated how open and unusual these events are. I apologized to her for getting a bit to passionate and she smiled and didn’t mind at all. Regarding the substance rich of what I was trying to say – I’m no pal of the big banks and I wouldn’t have voted to bail any of them out. If they’ve abused their charters they need to be prosecuted fully. But they didn’t get us into this mess – goverment policy which has dictated for years that everyone should own a home got us here. The banks only followed the rules government set. And further government meddling will only exasperate the problem.

GOP Rep. Joe Walsh Melts Down, Screams At Constituents: ‘Dont Blame Banks!…I Am Tired Of Hearing That Crap!’

Joe Walsh seems like a very loose cannon…

Think Progress

Freshman Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) is known for his anti-Obama rhetoric on cable television and his inability to pay his child support payments. But during a recent meeting with constituents in his Chicago-area suburban district, Walsh lost his cool when several attendees asked about why banks have so much power in government. At one point, Walsh even threatened to eject a man who asked Walsh about the revolving door of bank lobbyists infiltrating Congress and financial regulatory agencies.

Walsh at one point screamed, “don’t blame the banks … this pisses me off!” After several constituents accurately pointed out that bank lobbyists occupy key positions within Congress, the SEC, and other oversight bodies that are supposed to supervise bank practices, Walsh began sticking his finger close to his constituent’s faces, yelling, “quiet for a minute or I’ll have to ask you to leave.” The constituent, who had calmly asked his question before being cut-off midway through his sentence, obliged:

WALSH: Thats not the problem! The problem is you’ve got to be consistent. And I dont want government meddling in the marketplace. Yeah, they move from Goldman Sachs to the White House, I understand all of that. But you gotta’ be consistent. And it’s not the private marketplace that created this mess. What created mess was your government, which has demanded for years that everybody be in a home. And we’ve made it easy as possible for people to be in homes. [...] Don’t blame banks, and don’t blame the marketplace for the mess we’re in right now! I am tired of hearing that crap! This pisses me off! Too many people don’t listen. [...]

WALSH: Quiet for a minute! Quiet for a minute!

CONSTITUENT: Joe, what did I say–

WALSH: Quiet for a minute or I’m going to ask you to leave. You need to listen, or I’m going to ask you to leave.

Walsh Gets Pro-Family Award Despite Child Support Allegations

Not only is this ironic, it’s the height of absurdity.  This epitomizes how the ultra-right wing of the GOP is absolutely out of their minds.

TPMMuckraker

Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL), whose ex-wife says he owes $117,437 in back child support, was honored by the Family Research Council Action on Thursday for his “unwavering support of the family,” the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

“We thank Cong. Walsh who has voted consistently to defend faith, family and freedom,” FRCA President Tony Perkins said. “Cong. Walsh and other ‘True Blue Members’ have voted to repeal Obamacare, de-fund Planned Parenthood, end government funding for abortion within the health care law, uphold the Defense of Marriage Act, and continue support for school choice. I applaud their commitment to uphold the institutions of marriage and family.”

“I am proud and honored to be recognized by the Family Research Council as the only member from Illinois with a 100 percent pro-family voting record,” Walsh said in a statement. “Defending American values have always been one of my top priorities, and this reward reaffirms my dedication to that fight.”

Walsh claims he had a “verbal” agreement with his ex-wife not to pay the money because, according to his attorney, “Joe and his former wife were both tired of court appearances and the resulting emotional and financial impact on the family. Neither party had the financial or emotional wherewithal to continue the battle.”

Rep. Joe Walsh: Media Will Protect Obama In 2012 Because He Is Black

Joe Walsh is such an asshole…

Think Progress

Media hound Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) has harsh praise for the company he seeks — particularly when it comes to coverage of President Obama. He is a firm believer in the idea that the media and liberals’ collective “white guilt” rocketed an “articulate” black man to the presidency. Now, Walsh is convinced the media will go to great lengths to protect their chosen black hero.

In an interview with Walsh yesterday, the right-wing Media Research Center’s Brent Bozell insisted that the president is “playing class warfare and race warfare games” and asked Walsh why the media are “aiding and abetting” this onslaught. Walsh surmised the because the media “are so vested in our first black president not being a failure,” they will go to great lengths — including calling his detractors “racist” — to “protect him”:

BOZELL: [Y]ou see this administration playing class warfare and race warfare games. Now, that’s their problem. But what does it say about the national media that they are aiding and abetting this by not exposing the dishonesty here?

WALSH: Reagan was beautiful because Reagan simplified everything, so let’s simplify it. This guy pushed every one of the media’s buttons. He was liberal, he was different, he was new, he was black. Oh my God, it was the potpourri of everything. They are so vested in our first black president not being a failure that it’s going to be amazing to watch the lengths they go to protect him. They [the media], I believe, will spout this racist line if some of their colleagues up here aren’t doing it aggressively enough. There is going to be a real desperation.

Watch it:

Walsh has made more TV appearances than any other House freshman. Perhaps he’s just desperate to shift media focus away from his persistent refusal to pay child support for his three children. Perhaps he thinks lobbing race-based attacks at the media is the only way to do it. Regardless of his reasons, he’s liable to repeat it over and over again. “And there’s nothing racist about this,” he has said of the attack. “It is what it is.”

Judge Orders Joe Walsh To Prove He Doesn’t Owe Back Child-Support

This guy is a clown.  He actually asked for sanctions against his ex-wife for not providing them with her salary records, bank statements and tax returns.  It all seems like a typical smoke and mirrors game to take the spotlight off of Joe Walsh.  However, in a Cook County court, a judge ordered Walsh to prove that he is not a “deadbeat dad” and prove that he doesn’t owe $100,000 in back child support.

Get the popcorn ready, Mr. I wanna be in front of the camera 24/7s has some splainin’ to do.

The Huffington Post

After months of dismissing allegations that he owed his ex-wife more than $100,000 in back child support, U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh was ordered Wednesday to provide the court with proof that he isn’t a deadbeat dad.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Cook County Circuit Judge Raul Vega expressed frustration when the Illinois Republican and Tea Party favorite did not appear in court along with his ex-wife, Laura Walsh.

From the Sun-Times:

Walsh’s new attorney, Janet Boyle, asked Vega “for what purpose” he wanted the congressman in court.Vega gave her a puzzled look.

To which Boyle responded: “Mr. Walsh is a U.S. congressman.”

“Well, he’s no different than anyone else,” the judge said.

The judge then issued a “rule to show cause,” asking that Walsh provide proof that he made the child support payments–or risk being held in contempt for falling behind.
