  1. We got here due to a most powerful money making lobby that has taken us there. We have no representatives that willing to fight for the smallest change to gun laws, like background checks. We had them before but now the NRA choses to show its strength and power over us, the country and the poor saps we vote into office.

    1. It’s as if there’s a gun toting Walter Mitty ancestral cowboy just beneath the surface of many Americans – most notably the military, gun lobbyists and their supporters. Those White supremacist Walter Mitty cowboys (some of whom aren’t even White) harbor what they believe to be a “natural”, “Constitutional” right to shoot first and ask questions later, in general, but applicable to nonWhites especially. A Little Big Horn is waiting for them right down the street, across town or across the ocean. They are under siege!

      1. I was thinking about that “2nd amendment constitutional right” that teabaggers and others of their ilk tout. Too bad they’re against OTHER constitutional rights such as the 12. 13 and/or 14th amendments. Just sayin’…

      2. And can you imagine the mindset of the White MEN who, when it came to thinking about how the Constitution needed to be amended, thought first about the rights to SAY what they want and SHOOT when they want? After all, why not, for example, a Constitutional right to work for pay – or a Constitutional right to obtain remuneration by contributing to society? My point is that priorities were set by a small, unrepresentative, segment of the population, but, nevertheless, continue, for some reason, to be enshrined, worshiped and strangely limited. I say we need more Constitutional Amendments.
