So much for Democracy.
The question I have is…will someone be looking over the shoulder of each employee as they vote? This entire exercise is yet another bully tactic by the powers that be. They are trying their best, it seems, to guarantee some sort of dystopian future for the American electorate.
Think Progress
The Koch brothers’ $60 million pledge to defeat President Obama — along with their political network’s $400 million spending — make them two of the most influential conservatives this election.
Not content with their unprecedented influence in politics, the Kochs have also taken to influencing the votes of their employees. According to In These Times, Koch Industries sent 45,000 mailers to employees at Koch subsidiary Georgia Pacific, urging votes for Romney and other conservative candidates. The letter warns ominously of “consequences” for the workers if Republicans lose.
The Koch mailer is one of several recent examples of executives warning that employees may lose their jobs if Republicans do not win in November. Here is an excerpt of the letter:
While we are typically told before each Presidential election that it is important and historic, I believe the upcoming election will determine what kind of America future generations will inherit.
If we elect candidates who want to spend hundreds of billions in borrowed money on costly new subsidies for a few favored cronies, put unprecedented regulatory burdens on businesses, prevent or delay important new construction projects, and excessively hinder free trade, then many of our more than 50,000 U.S. employees and contractors may suffer the consequences, including higher gasoline prices, runaway inflation, and other ills.
In These Times also reports that employees are restricted in their political free speech on social media outlets.

I understand that the MSM is supposed to be “impartial” but neglecting efforts to suppress and manipulate the vote should be the “Breaking News” they so easily loop across our screens. This is real news and those trying to steal the election should be called out for it.
The Fourth Estate has failed miserably during this campaign. By propping up falsehoods as plausible, they assist in the delusion of the masses rather than informing us. Otherwise, I would think that elected officials working with corporate moguls to steal the White House would be front page news everyday … in a democracy, that is.
Just sayin …
The Fourth Estate will bear a major portion of the blame should Obama lose. MSM acts as if the reversals on policies important to women, for example, that would occur under a Romney administration are simply matters of “opinion” where “liberal” policies would be replaced with legitimate “conservative” policies – so get over it until the next election. The MSM promotes the belief that if things don’t turn out so well under Romney we can change it all in 2016. But MSM never emphasizes the fact that presidents appoint federal judges, federal judgeships are for life and judges ultimately decide what can and can not be done in this country.
The really scary part is the steady, and possibly, irreversible erosion of the values with respect to labor and civil rights, for examples – begun slowly with the Reagan administration is sure to accelerate under Romney.
Meanwhile the MSM will probably shrug and feel happy to have the opportunity to give us a tour of one of Romney’s mansions, complete with state of the art car elevator.
Astute & sound reasoning. I’ve heard many “smart” people say that the job of the MSM is to just ask questions but that’s not what they’re doing. They are giving balance to lies & facts, putting them on equal platforms. And you’re right about the long-term effects of judicial appointees. Also the long-term effects of failed policies that so many are trying to blame President Obama for even though we all know what happened in the previous 8 years.
Thanks for your insightful response!
