I’m waiting to see the blow back from the right regarding The President’s innocuous statement…
Think Progress
Moments ago, President Obama weighed in for the first time on the shooting of Trayvon Martin, calling the incident “a tragedy.” While he said he had to be careful not to interfere with a Department of Justice investigation, Obama remarked, “all of us have to do some soul searching to figure out, how does something like this happen.” He was speaking at the Rose Garden of the White House:
OBAMA: It is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this. … But my main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin. You know, if I had a son he’d look like Trayvon. And I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves and get to the bottom of exactly what happened.
Watch it:
Previously, White House spokesperson Jay Carney said, “obviously we’re not going to wade into a local law enforcement matter.”
