Melissa Harris-Perry did a segment over the weekend about the death of Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida, a few weeks ago, and it’s well worth watching, especially if you want to get brought up to speed on this story. The controversy surrounding this shooting is starting to garner national attention, and for good reason.

This story is so infuriating that it makes me sick to my very core. George Zimmerman belongs behind bars and we can make it happen by posting and re-posting links to this travesty across the planet. This story is every bit as important as any other story that has gone viral in recent weeks. The same people that draw attention to causes across oceans need to show the same support and intensity concerning battling injustice(s) in their own backyard. Daryl
Daryl, you laid out the case for spreading this story “all across the planet”! It’s getting bigger by the day.
Here’s my take on it: I’ve been around for six decades…and even though I am from NYC, there was little difference in the treatment of minorities by police from the way they were treated in the south. The only difference I could see was that the mal-treatment of Blacks and Hispanics by the NYPD was not as “out in the open” as it was in the south.
I hear the Congressional Black Caucus has asked the Justice Department to look into this.
