Herman Cain’s Half-Baked Pizza

Here’s my take on Herman Cain’s premise that 88% of African Americans are brainwashed to vote for Democrats:

Herman Cain picked that figure from thin air and quoted it as if he were some poll expert.   Didn’t he learn his lesson on Fox’s Chris Wallace Show a few months ago when he made a similar brainless faux pas?

Here’s a statistical fact about Herman Cain:  Cain is 0 for 2 when appearing on  Wallace’s show and alleging a factual statement which turns out to be untrue.

Mario Piperni

Unless Herman Cain is a bit more delusional than he appears to be, there is no way he believes he’s got a chance of winning the GOP primary no matter how many meaningless straw polls he wins.  The man is more likely positioning himself for a place on a Romney or Perry ticket.

Here’s Mister 999 on Fox.

“Now, the African-American vote, I am confident, based upon black people that I run into, black people that used to call my radio show, black people that have signed up on my Web site to support me — I believe, quite frankly, that my campaign, I will garner a minimum of a third of the black vote in this country, and possibly more…”

[...]

“The fact that my plan resonates — the fact that if we boost this national economy, we’re gonna help the state economy — that’s gonna help the local economy, and that’s gonna help the household economy. And because the unemployment rate for black people is nearly 17 percent, instead of the 9 percent, they’re looking for something that’s gonna boost this economy, and they see that possibility in my 9-9-9 plan.

“That’s what’s going to peel off the black vote, results, not rhetoric.”

Actually, it’ll take a hell of a lot more than a Herman Cain to “peel off” the black vote.  Obama picked up 95% of that vote in 2008 and Kerry had 88% of it in 2004.  I doubt that African-Americans could ever be convinced to change political affiliation and vote for a man, regardless of color, who talks of privatizing Social Security.  Nor do I imagine they’d be too enthralled with casting a vote for a man who promotes a tax plan (9-9-9) which shifts a greater portion of the tax burden on to the poor while at the same time decreasing the tax rate for the rich.  PolitiFact breaks down 999 for you.

Herman Cain, Chilean model, 999…not in this lifetime.

  1. The simple fact is this – regardless of your self-denial, a very strong majority of blacks voted for, will always vote for, and will always support, Barack Obama, regardless of what he says or does.

The last I checked, his supported among blacks had “dropped” to 58%! He held strong in mid-90 percentile for a long time. Those numbers have never happened in history. Why do you suppose that is?

It makes no difference whether Herman Cain wins the nomination or not, but it IS pathetic that a majority of blacks would rather listen to the divisive class war rhetoric of Barack Obama than the message of a man who has actually accomplished something through honest hard work – without pitting blacks against whites, and haves against have-nots.

Blacks have bought liberal nonsense for more than 50 years. How’s it worked so far?

    • So tell me, just what is it that the “majority” of Blacks should be attracted to with the “other party”? What has the “other party” done to attract ANY minorities for that matter? Many Blacks, and I include myself in that segment, have painted BOTH parties with the same brush.

To some Blacks, there is no difference between the parties. If there was a third legitimate party that truly had the interest of “the people” (that’s all the people that are being disenfranchised through voter suppression, dismantling of unions, teachers targeted for layoffs and terminations, cuts from college tuition grants to medicare and social security (which every working American pays into their entire working years) rather than coddle to the super rich and protect THEM from a minuscule tax increase.

THAT(the latter) is the party that people like you and Cain feel we should embrace. Yeah right! We’re not “brainwashed”. We’re just critical thinkers who have a choice between “bad” and worse”. We’ll take the “bad” in hopes that it will become “fairer” as opposed to the worst party that simply wants to take away everything “we the people” (not just Blacks) have strived for since the beginning of this Republic.

So do me a favor “Rat” and take your pontificating, holier-than-thou attitude about what you THINK you know about The Black Experience elsewhere, where they will agree with you 100%…like Fox Nation or some place. Because I’m not buying what you are selling.

Bravo Kstreet. Go on with your bad self. Great response. And I love your new avatar. Your lips are sooo kissable.

Please don’t take offense. I’m just being honest. BTW I would have included quite a few exclamation marks, but my shift key stopped working and I knew if I waited until I get a new keyboard tomorrow to say these things someone else would have beaten me to it.

        You are something else.

  2. LTL, you’re such a flirt! I’m not offended. At MY age, every compliment is treasured. :)

By the way, let me give you some background on that pic.

My daughter was late getting back from returning her rental car and catching the shuttle bus from the car rental company to the dock where we were about to take a cruise to the Carribean. She barely arived on time!

It was a hot and hectic day and to top it off, as soon as we got on the ship we were asked if we wanted a picture. My daughter said yes and there I was, like a deer caught in the headlights. LOL Hence the flabbergasted expression. I was NOT prepared to take any picture at that time.

So you were caught off guard, by surprise, and unprepared. You certainly don’t look like it.

Your eyes are very calm, gentle, wise, and understanding.

  3. “So do me a favor “Rat” and take your pontificating, holier-than-thou attitude about what you THINK you know about The Black Experience elsewhere.”

Perfect! This the typical response – love it!

Let me ask YOU some questions:
What has Barack Obama done to warrant 58% approval (down from 90%+) for black America? Maxine Watters doesn’t seem to think he’s done much, does she? What has the Democratic party done – other than pander to blacks – for the last 50 years? Why are in excess of 70% of black children born out of wedlock? Is that the Republicans and Fox New’s fault too?

I suspect you will simply trash this comment and offer no intelligent response, since you didn’t bother to even try last time. It’s what you people (LIBERALS) do – in lieu of facts, logic and intelligent debate.

  4. P.S. The nonsense in the rest of your response is merely ridiculous liberal talking points, i.e. “suppression, (lol),

The upper 1% earn 20% of all income, but pay total 40% of taxes.
The top 5% earn 37% and pay 60% of total taxes.

How much is my “fair share?” When is enough, enough?

The poor, put-upon, bottom 48% pay ZERO income taxes.

The pathetic mantra, “the rich need to pay their fair share” is indicative of all the drivel in your response. Obviously, the intent of your blog is to preach to the leftist choir, vs. encouraging honest, substantive debate.

Have fun; keep your head in the sand.

I might otherwise attempt to address some of your points, but I’m sorry, your tone is as foul as your avatar and name.

Try again after you clean yourself up.

      YIKES.

  5. Let me ask YOU some questions:

What has Barack Obama done to warrant 58% approval (down from 90%+) for black America?

In a nutshell Obama’s promise in pre-election day 2008 to change Washington’s crony capitalism culture and put more ethics rules into place was ambushed by both Blue Dog Dems and Republicans. In fact every bill for jobs and financial relief for Americans has been sidelined by GOP members of the house.

When the GOP took the majority in the House in 2010, their first order of business was to make Obama a one-term president. So as they did in 2008 and even more so from 2010 on…House Republicans sidelined judicial appointments, they’re still attempting to dismantle regulations that will protect Americans from e-coli and other bacterial menaces as well as dismantling environmental regulations that would protect citizens from a host of airborne menaces.

The GOP has blocked every effort that the POTUS tries to advance. Not on valid grounds but solely for political reasons.

A majority of the electorate don’t understand the “process” they are simply looking for results. The GOP has counted on that fact so that they can openly continue blocking every effort Obama makes to relieve the housing crisis, jobs, infrastructure issues, etc. The GOP would rather see Americans suffer than allow Obama to move forward through the process as every other president in this country was allowed to do since Thomas Jefferson.

Maxine Watters doesn’t seem to think he’s done much, does she? What has the Democratic party done – other than pander to blacks – for the last 50 years?

Maxine Waters has an agenda. She, Cornell West and Tavis Smiley have no love lost for Obama. But they do have an agenda which is to make Obama look as weak and incompetent as possible.

Why are in excess of 70% of black children born out of wedlock? Is that the Republicans and Fox New’s fault too?

That statement has nothing to do with Obama and you really need to cite your sources when quoting stats.

    Oh by the way:

    http://kaystreet.wordpress.com/2011/09/04/so-that-ignorance-wont-be-the-reason-why-progressives-are-throwing-the-president-under-the-bus/

    • LongTimeLurker

I agree with everything you said above except for the part about Maxine Waters, Cornell West, and Tavis Smiley wanting Obama to look weak.

I think they are merely urging him to be strong.

  6. BTW: You said:
The upper 1% earn 20% of all income, but pay total 40% of taxes.
The top 5% earn 37% and pay 60% of total taxes.

How much is my “fair share?” When is enough, enough?

The poor, put-upon, bottom 48% pay ZERO income taxes.

PLEASE CITE YOUR SOURCES. Oh never mind, Limbaugh, Fox news, NewsMax etc.

Those stats have all been fact checked and failed miserably. I’ll research the fact check sites and post my findings within 24 hours.

I notice in your responses to me that you chose the tried and true debate killer, attacking me personally. Tsk Tsk, you lose!

    Kstreet;

Yes. Your output today has made me a groupie.
