IMPEACHMENT MAY BE THE OBJECTIVE

PM Carpenter wisely suggests that the GOP never intended to pass any real debt ceiling bill but merely to stall until the President was forced to use the ‘nuclear option’…the 14th Amendment.

Remember, the congressional GOP have already sent out trial balloons saying they will start impeachment procedures if Obama uses the 14th amendment.  However, it looks like this was their plan all along.

P.M. Carpenter

This thought does occur.

It may be that congressional Republicans privately have removed brinkmanship from the table; that their revised plan is to ensure that no default-avoiding bill, under any circumstances — not even their own — shall emerge from Congress; and that a guaranteed default will thereby force President Obama to reluctantly exercise the Constitutional option next week, thus creating the grounds for another year-long distraction: impeachment.

He also mentions the Congressional GOP’s manipulations just to bring us to this point:

FORCING OBAMA’S HAND

A rather stunned Sen. Kent Conrad just reported on “The Last Word” that Mitch McConnell has informed Harry Reid that he intends to filibuster the Reid proposal. Needless to say, this maneuver collides with any workable solution to Congress’ self-imposed debt crisis prior to the default deadline.

I repeat my earlier speculation that congressional Republicans may be intentionally forcing President Obama into what the House will later maintain, in impeachment proceedings, was a usurpation.

From earlier today:

  1. I wouldn’t mind Republicans using the Reagan way and sell bad stuff with a smile. It’s still clean politics. If the American people want conservative options, so be it. If they are too misinformed to act for their best interest, so be it. That’s our democracy.

But using every trick in the book (the birth certificate wasn’t even in the book) to cheat is in no way acceptable.

There is no Republican leadership anymore:

  2. Jean-philippe, you are so right, everything the GOP and tea baggers have done thus far, to make Obama look bad or to goad him in the direction of impeachment is totally off the charts. History will not look kindly upon the GOP, The Dems, The POTUS and especially the Tea Baggers of the 112th Congress.

These antics make everyone look bad, but especially Obama which is their goal…”…Obama’s waterloo…”

    1. I was watching some of these satirical videos made with the famous Downfall scene. I was struck how teabaggers sound like some people of the 1930.

      1. The teabaggers have never been about what they claim to be. But then again, Orwell would have been proud of them:

Liberty=restrictions on personal choice; doing away with senior citizen benefits (the real death panel); union busting; eliminating the middle class, etc.

That agenda sounds more like a corporate agenda than a grass roots movement!

Those people are not a grass roots movement but a manufactured and manipulated faction sponsored by Freedom Works, American Crossroads, Koch Industries, etc.

They are the ones that financed the creeps that are in office now.

  3. If Obama does invoke the 14th Amendment, it is not grounds for impeachment. The Tea Baggers are so fucked up, they actually don’t know which end is up.
