Update: A revised LAPD report says Doucet tried to take the black officer’s gun during the fight — for that, he was immediately killed.

Updated after the jump: LAPD officers are out of the hospital — they were both punched in the head by Doucet. The officer who shot him was a black male who had only been on the force for 17 months. Doucet had no weapon.

Reginald Doucet, Jr, a 25-year-old Playa Vista resident, posted this video to his Twitter account on his way out in Hollywood last night — just hours before he was shot and killed by an LAPD officer:

I live for this,” he says in the video. “I could be dead right now, and I’m still doing what I’m doing.”

Doucet was apparently on his way to Drai’s Hollywood, the rooftop nightclub at the W Hotel. When he returned home to Playa Vista later that night, he engaged in an argument with his cab driver. That’s when a nearby resident both the driver and nearby residents called the police.

  1. The guy was no doubt under the influence of some kind of intoxicant. The ONLY way the two officers could possibly justify shooting an obviously unarmed man (he was clad in just his boxers) would be to give the time honored “he went for my gun” excuse. The cops (one Black and the other Asian) could have tazed him or they could have sprayed him. Instead it probably got personal – like who was the badder dude – and the Black cop decided to duke, until he got bopped, panicked, and cheated.

    1. And I know its just speculation, but how do two cops end up “fighting” with a near naked guy? It would seem they would have kept their distance, given him orders, and, if he failed to comply, tazed or sprayed him (from a distance.) I read the article and there’s no mention of any attempt by the police to use any other force than deadly force after Doucet started “fighting” with them.

The result -more strong uppity genes removed the available African American gene pool.

      1. Don’t get me started. I was talking to my big brother a couple of days ago and discussed my theory of the docilefication (my word) of African Americans as a result of 500 years of family separation, limb amputation, castration, lynching, and incarceration of Black males who were deemed too assertive by whomever. And my brother stuck up one eyebrow and said “On the other hand we’ve become exceptionally cunning.” We had a good laugh.
